News Slab: Prime news cuts from the metal and rock worldFRIDAY, JULY 04/08 - "POISONBLACK" - NEW ALBUM ARTWORK & RELEASE DATES.
The song "Left Behind" is available for streaming on POISONBLACK'S MYSPACE PAGE
The CD was recorded at Soundmix Studio in POISONBLACK's hometown of Oulu with KarI Vähäkuopus and was mixed by Aksu Hanttu at Grooveland Studio in Lahti.
"A Dead Heavy Day" will be released through Century Media Records in Europe on the following dates: Commented Ville Laihiala: "As usual, it took a year of adventures in life and relationships to put my innermost feelings into the shape of songs. Everything is straight from inside of my head.compositions and lyrics are supposed to support each other as good as possible to express my innermost emotions."
The first single, "Bear The Cross", will be released in Finland on August 13. It will feature two brand-new songs from "A Dead Heavy Day" as well as a semi-acoustic live track the band performed on Oulu's Radio Mega. POISONBLACK filmed a video for the song "Bear The Cross" at the end of June with KlaffI Productions. POISONBLACK drummer Tarmo Kanerva previously stated about the new material, "On one hand, there is going to be some really melodic songs, and on the other hand, the heavy stuff is heavier than anything we have ever done before. Still, you won't need to be afraid of dramatic changes. It'll be the typical POISONBLACK sound." Thanks Blabb. THE WILDHEARTS - BRING SOME QUALITY TO THE DREADED "COVERS" ALBUM COP-OUT.
As far as "covers" albums go... ...this is one of the better ones I've heard in a long, long time. Click WILDHEARTS MYSPACE to check out the bands version of the Super Furry Animals, "Ice Hockey Hair", plus others on the album.
THE WILDHEARTS will perform a second concert to celebrate the 15-year anniversary of the release of the "Earth Vs The Wildhearts" album. In addition to the previously announced September 20 show at Shepherds Bush Empire in London, the band will play Akasaka Britz in Tokyo Japan on November 23. Both gigs will feature "Earth Vs..." performed live in its entirety along with all of the B-sides from that era. OTEP - WANT YOU TO SHOW UP "IN COSTUME" AT GIGS, FOR LIVE DVD.
Faaack!....."A Chemical wedding of poetry & sound"??? This beeyotch sounds like someone beating a cat with a baby!! The only redeaming feature of theis act, is guitarist Karma Cheema.(ex-American Head Charge.) OTEP frontwoman Otep Shamaya has issued the following update: "At the end of this month we will embark upon a new adventure of creativity. Yes, the next set of shows will all be filmed for our first (ever) LIVE DVD. Those of you who have never been scorched by the sights and sounds of our musical rituals will (finally) be able to see, hear, and feel the ascending decadence of this chemical wedding of poetry and sound. "But lo, we are not only after documenting the musical alchemy that we conjure, NO NO, we want to capture the spirit and energy that YOU bring as well. No OT3P show is complete without the ravenous wonder and perfect passion of our most dedicated and educated fans and supporters. In fact, we will be awarding certain folks (at every show) the chance to be interviewed on camera about what our music and message means to YOU and that footage will be included on the DVD. So if you ever thought about breaking free from the cocoon, butterfly, now is the (fucking) time. "Those that come in costume (blood pigs, ghostflowers, pit bosses), those that come in body paint (TAO), those that leave the natural world behind and embrace the bohemian mindscape, will not only have a chance at being included on the DVD but will also have a chance at a PRIVATE meet-and-greet with the band. "I am so very excited about this moment and I am happy to share it with you." Thanks Otep Myspace. DROWNING POOL - "WE MET OBAMA, BUT HILLARY WOULDN'T MEET WITH US".
Drowning Pool's a band thats had a lot of shitty luck (gear ripped off) mediocre material, a current crappy singer, but have amazed a fair whack of people for sticking it out this long. When they should've packed it in long ago. Shelly Harris of KNAC.COM recently conducted an interview with DROWNING POOL. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow. KNAC.COM: Which leads me to ask: Do you consider yourselves to be a “political” band? Ryan McCombs (vocals): Nope! Stevie Benton (bass): Hell, no! (laughs) KNAC.COM: Well, it's interesting, because it was noted in the media at the time that that [performing for the troops in Iraq] was a patriotic thing to do — which it is — but are you saying that you don't really want to get into the political aspect of it? Because sometimes people think when you support the troops, you also support the war over there, but of course it doesn't necessarily mean that at all. And, either way you fall on it, it can be considered a form of patriotism, really. And there's also the fact that you met up with Obama … Ryan McCombs: Uh-humm. Yeah, we met Obama, and we tried to meet Hillary too, but she wouldn't meet with us. She'd meet with the people that had suits and ties on that were with us, but, as soon as she saw the tattooed people comin' at her, she took off. All of a sudden she had a meeting to go to. Stevie Benton: Seriously, we're not a political band at all. We had our one cause to help out the troops, and to work on that for a long time, but that was our only issue. I'll publicly say that we're all for Obama in the election, of course. But, other than that, we don't get onstage and preach politics or get all wrapped up in it. I just think that, once you start down that path, it weighs the fans down. I want to go to a rock show to have fun, and to forget about all that bullshit! I don't want to be preached to onstage, you know? Just a good time kind of thing is more our aspect. Thanks KNAC.com BILLY CORGAN - LANDS HIS NAME ON FENDER GUITAR'S 'ARTIST SERIES' LINE.
Perhaps taking a break from tarnishing the reputation of the Smashing Pumpkins before launching his plotted Gish tour, Billy Corgan has set his sights on another iconic rock item for maximum capital: the Fender Stratocaster. 0News Slab: Prime news cuts from the metal and rock world"THURSDAY, JULY 03/08. - "BARELY BUCKCHERRY" - LINK TO "NEW TRACK" & "CRUEFEST" INFO.
The only reason this is top of the pile................. Is cus' YOU, the reader says it should be so. If you read "Buck's" K.Nelson's comments below about the bands he's touring with, you might begin to feel a bit like me. "That poor f@#ker has no goddamned clue what GOOD Rock is all about". They can't even come up with an original name for the first single off the album. BUCKCHERRY's management company, 10th Street Entertainment, has given BLABBERMOUTH.NET permission to post links to a "leaked" version of the band's new song, which appears to be titled "Too Drunk to Fuck" (not to be confused with the DEAD KENNEDYS classic of the same name). The track is expected to appear on the group's forthcoming album, "Black Butterfly", which is tentatively due on September 23. The Japanese version of the CD — the artwork for which can be viewed below — will apparently arrive on August 27. BUCKCHERRY's "Too Drunk to Fuck": CLICK HERE
BUCKCHERRY has set "Black Butterfly" as the title of its new album, which is expected to be released on September 23. The Japanese version of the CD — the artwork for which can be viewed below — will apparently arrive on August 27. BUCKCHERRY released "15" just over two years ago, beginning a comeback that saw the band play 300 shows, sell over one million copies of the record, and earn five hit singles after being all but defunct five years ago. BUCKCHERRY has just kicked off "Crüe Fest, " the summer-long package tour headlined by MÖTLEY CRÜE. Keith Nelson told The Pulse of Radio a few weeks ago why he was looking forward to the trek. "MÖTLEY CRÜE is really one of those bands that I think is so ahead of the curve, " he said. "For us to be out on the road with them with this package I think is really cool because you're getting a lot of different rock bands. You're getting a band like us, which I don't think there's anything out there quite like us, and you're getting a band like PAPA ROACH, which I think is probably the best band of the early new millenium bands. Throw in TRAPT, who's great, who's had a lot of success, and the SIXX: A.M. guys, and it's just, it is a rock 'n' roll festival." Thanks Blabb. 7 YEARS LATER - FLAMING LIPS COMPLETE "CHRISTMAS ON MARS" FILM.
Should be a good flick to sit on down & spark a bat the size of a log to. After more than seven years in the making, the Flaming Lips film, Christmas On Mars, has finally been completed. The flick stars bandmates Michael Ivans and frontman Wayne Coyne as alien super-heroes, and will no doubt feature the same sort of quirky, eccentric concepts the Oklahoma quartet houses in their music. Coyne and co. are currently screening the film at several local and international music festivals, including the recent Sasquatch Fest, with hopes for a public release in time for the holiday season. Additionally, the band has a brand new track titled "Cosmic Trigger 2" that will be featured on the soundtrack for Okie Noodling II out on DVD July 14. Don't forget to catch The Flaming Lips paying homage to The Who on VH1 Rock Honors July 17. Thanks Filter Mag. MONSTER MAGNET - EUROPEAN DATES ANNOUNCED.

The hysterical thing about this... ..is both of these idiots are black!! In case you care... ....GCH frontman, Travis McCoy's been addicted to junk since he was 15. He's just completed 2 tours of duty in rehab. So who knows how much of a grasp on reality this bozo had. On Tuesday, at the Maryland Heights, Missouri, stop of this summer's Warped Tour, Gym Class Heroes lead singer Travis McCoy was arrested and charged with third-degree assault after he allegedly struck a member of the audience in the head with his microphone. According to Rolling Stone, the audience member near the front row called McCoy a "f ing ignorant n er." McCoy reportedly responded by asking the man to repeat what he'd said as security personnel attempted to remove the man from the venue. McCoy then reportedly reached down and struck him in the head with his microphone. Police spokesman Sgt. Joseph Eagan did confirm that the incident was racially motivated, but added that the alleged victim "and the artist are of the same race." The band's manager, Bob McLynn, released a statement Wednesday afternoon that reads: "Somebody in the crowd was taunting Travis with racial slurs. Travis invited him onstage with the intent of calling him out in front of the crowd, with absolutely no intention of a physical altercation. When he tried to help him onstage, the guy hit Travis in the knee area (which has been in a brace because of a recent sprain), forcing Travis to defend himself. At this point, a scuffle broke out. Sgt. Joseph Eagan said "The prosecutor handling the case decided there was enough information to warrant a charge, " he said. The charge for municipal, or common assault, is a misdemeanor and carries no jail time, but will result in a fine to be determined by the judge if McCoy is found guilty. At 5 p.m. ET on Thursday, Eagan said McCoy's attorneys had not yet contacted police about the warrant. Thanks Rollingstone. TOTALLY USELESS MUSIC NEWS?? - SCOTT WEILAND'S RELEASING HIS SECOND SOLO ALBUM IN OCTOBER.
The Pulse of Radio reports that STONE TEMPLE PILOTS vocalist Scott Weiland has set October 7 as the release date for his yet-to-be-titled second solo album, according to Absolute Punk. Weiland has been working on the project for several years and will issue it through his own label, Softdrive Records. The record will follow up his 1998 solo debut, "12 Bar Blues", and Weiland told The Pulse of Radio the new one is a natural progression. "It'll definitely be a sonic journey like the first album was, a little bit more focused since I'm not on a narcotic journey like I was on the last one. But, you know, still sort of all over the map, because my influences are so wide and varied." STONE TEMPLE PILOTS reunited in April for a major summer tour after a six-year hiatus. The band rose to stardom in the 1990s, but its career was derailed by Weiland's drug problems and arrests. Weiland spent a month in rehab earlier this year, following an arrest last November on a DUI charge. The singer and STONE TEMPLE PILOTS drummer Eric Kretz were recently sued by the group's label, Atlantic Records, who allege that the pair have issued threats to stop performing unless their recording contract is changed. Thanks TPOR. ALICE COOPER'S BUSY - TEACHING BIBLE LESSON'S & RELEASING A NEW ALBUM.
The 'Bible lesson' things creepier than Manson will ever be. Or will Manson try to one-up the old man by giving 'book of Mormon' lessons? Christ, where will this end................ "Beck" giving Scientology/Dianetics studies by mail? Shock rocker Alice Cooper is not a bad boy at heart - he occasionally teaches Bible lessons at his local church. The reformed wild child, real name Vincent Furnier, dons menacing face paint when he hits the stage for a concert, but insists he is far from intimidating when he attends his weekly church service. He says, "I go to Bible study on Wednesday mornings - I even teach sometimes - but I'll still get up on stage and be much scarier than Marilyn Manson." And he has no problem balancing his religion with his career path - because he doesn't swear. He adds, "It doesn't mean that, as a Christian, you can't be a rocker or an entertainer. It's your lifestyle. I never use bad language. That's not gentlemanly. Alice might slit your throat but he'd never use the F word." A brand new ALICE COOPER track, Vengeance Is Mine, is available for streaming on his MYSPACE PAGE The song comes off the rock legend's forthcoming album, "Along Came A Spider", due on July 29 via SPV Records. "A dark and menacing album for dark and menacing times" is perhaps the most fitting description for Alice's 25th studio album overall, as a chilling conceptual thread runs through the songs, which are told through the voice of a serial killer named Spider — one that Alice describes as "an arachnophobic psychopath" (in the song "Catch Me If You Can"). Alice, the master storyteller, weaves a web of danger, intrigue and death that rivals his best work. Thanks The Gauntlet. WIBUMBA--METAL & HARD ROCK ALMANAC - THURSDAY, JULY 03/08. 0News Slab: Prime news cuts from the metal and rock worldWEDNESDAY, JULY 02/08: - AC/DC'S NEW ALBUM TITLE - RUMOURED TO BE "BLACK ICE"?
They should call it ... "Black Ass" instead............ And put Oprah Winfrey's big shitter on the cover. Paul Cashmere of Undercover News reports that legendary Australian hard rockers AC/DC have three titles that they are considering for for their upcoming album, including "Black Ice" (which is said to be "a frontrunner at the moment") and "Runaway Train". Danny Keenan of AC/DC's Australian record label Albert Music told Undercover News that a decision on the CD title will be made in the next week. Albert Music CEO Tim Prescott will head to New York for meetings over the AC/DC release next week. Danny Keenan told Undercover News that he has heard half the album but did not hear a song called "Black Ice". If it is being used as a title track, then it may have been one of the later tracks recorded for the album. AC/DC's first album in eight years is tentatively due in October and is expected to be followed by a world tour. Sony BMG recently revealed that the disc will be sold exclusively through Wal-Mart stores, which has caused controversy with critics and fans. The album was recorded in Canada at Bryan Adams' studio with producer Brendan O'Brien (AUDIOSLAVE, PEARL JAM, STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, VELVET REVOLVER). Thanks Undercover News.com 'DRUM!' MAGAZINE'S PICK FOR WORLD'S BEST 'METAL DRUMMER' GOES TO........
F@#kin' Eh, my bray! Chris Adlers the champ!! Good to see that Tool's/Pygmy Love Circus, Danny Carey made the list also.
DRUM! magazine has revealed the results of its 2008 Readers' Poll. The top name listed in each category is the official winner: all the subsequent names under a category are considered by DRUM! to be "runners-up, " not necessarily "second-, " "third-, " or "fourth-place" winners. Thanks Blabb. 'YES, TIMMY, ROCK ALBUM'S STILL SELL'.
The dudes at Metalsucks report that Rock is still alive & breathing, (sort of) as far as record sales go:
Maybe the CD isn’t a dying format after all. Actually, fuck that, the CD is definitely in its death throes. But at least for one week the inevitable has been delayed, and some rock records actually moved serious tonnage. Motley Crue and Shinedown both debuted in the Top 10, Disturbed continued their inevitable march towards gold (and then platinum) at #9, and Kid Rock continued his rampage back up the charts to reach #12. Some abbreviated Soundscan numbers and positions after the jump: Thanks Metalsucks.com METALLICA TO ISSUE LIMITED EDITION CD/DVD BOX-SET, PACKAGED AS A 'COFFIN-BOX'.
Yeah, so you can bury the fucking thing after listening to it & finding its 'St. Anger' part 2.
According to the Norwegian music retailer Platekompaniet, METALLICA will release a limited-edition two-CD, one-DVD, deluxe "Death Magnetic" box set in September. The box set will be packaged as a coffin box and will also include an exclusive t-shirt, flag and USB memory stick. Thanks Blabb. THE "MOTLEY MYSTERY" - HOW THE HELL DID "SAINTS" LAND IN THE TOP 5 BILLBOARD CHART DEBUT?
I can't figure this shit out. A washed up old 80's Hair-band, .that should be dead, in the top 5 of Billboards charts. The Gauntlet gives us this report on the Crue: With an impressive first week, legendary ("washed up") rock band Mötley Crüe earned themselves an impressive ("Ya gotta be kidding me") top 5 debut their highest since 1997's Generation Swine on the Billboard chart with Saints Of Los Angeles, their first new album featuring the original lineup in over a decade. The album, inspired ("ripping themselves off") by their NY Times best-selling book The Dirt is an example of how forward thinking, integrated marketing ("ripping gullible kids off") and an acclaimed CD can support sales in a lagging music industry. ("a dying horse") The single, 'Saints of Los Angeles,' which remains a top ten rock track was released simultaneously via the video game Rock Band (a Crüe Fest partner) and to traditional retailers and sold over five times the number of downloads on Rock Band as it did on iTunes in its first week.(" & Prong sold only 4500 copies, Us 1st week") The band has also pioneered digital initiatives including online pre-sales (they were one of the first bands to sell tickets online): simulcasting their press conference on therockvine.com and offering fans exclusive content on their website, ( "a real prize") motley.com for years. Plans include continued digital initiatives and special ring tone availability. Saints of Los Angeles features NikkI Sixx, Mick Mars, Tommy Lee and Vince Neil ("And vince's wig") and is their ninth studio album in a 27 year career which has seen the most notorious ("Hyped") band in rock & roll sell over 80 million albums worldwide so far. Gee... Thanks The Gauntlet. DAVE MATHEWS SAX PLAYER - SERIOUSLY HURT ON ATV.
Didn't Ozzy just about take a dirt-nap goofing on a ATV also? TMZ reports: Dave Matthews' sax player has been seriously injured in an ATV accident. 46-year-old LeRoI Moore was on a break between concerts when he was injured riding the rig at his farm outside Charlottesville, Virg. He was transported to UVA Medical Center, where's he's listed in fair condition. A statement on the band's website said "Please join us all in wishing LeRoI a speedy and complete recovery." Jeff Coffin, saxophonist of Béla Fleck and the Flecktones, will sit in with the band while he recovers Thanks Antimusic. AARON LEWIS OF STAIND - "WE'RE GETTING EXPERIMENTAL WITH THIS RECORD".
Probably means he'll smoke 5 bags of BC Bud... ....instead of 4, while'st recording said album. The Pulse of Radio reports that STAIND frontman Aaron Lewis told MTV.com on Monday (June 30) that the band has taken an experimental approach to its new album, "The Illusion of Progress", due out on August 19. Lewis explained, "We're big on trying not to repeat ourselves, and grow in some way with every record we make. We need to feel, at the end of it, that we made a better one than the last one. I think this is our best record yet — because I'm supposed to feel that way, or else the record wouldn't be done." Lewis told The Pulse of Radio that the band tried to move forward this time by getting different sounds in the studio. "It's a departure from the last record, which I'd like to think was a departure from the record before, and so on and so forth, " he said. "Probably the most musical record that we've made yet. A lot more effect-y experimentation and, you know, a lot more textures with, you know, vintage instruments and vintage amps. There's definitely some different flavors on this record." Lewis told MTV.com that the new disc features elements such as a pedal steel guitar, a gospel choir and "a lot of things that have never really been done on a STAIND record before." The first single from "The Illusion of Progress" is called "Believe". STAIND shot a video for the song last week in Los Angeles. Thanks TPOR. "I just wanted to say that tonight we play for John Entwistle, " Daltrey announced to the crowd "He was the true spirit of rock & roll and he lives on in the music we play." The crowd greeted the band with a standing ovation before they even played a single note. Townshend and Daltrey took a moment in the show to introduce the low-key replacement for Entwistle, bassist Pino Palladino (Tears For Fears, Eric Clapton and Elton John). 1991 . . Guns 'n' Roses' Axl Rose, sparked a riot during a concert outside of St. Louis when he jumped off the stage and attacked a fan who was videotaping the concert. 60 people were hurt. 1982 . . SLIPKNOT has unveiled its new imagery in an exclusive partnership with AOL Music. This highly anticipated debut kick-starts the launch of SLIPKNOT's new album, "All Hope Is Gone". Masks are an integral part of the band's identity and to reflect this point, AOL Music's Spinner.com is currently hosting a retrospective photo gallery of SLIPKNOT masks throughout the band's career, spanning all three previous albums and including the most recent controversial "Purgatory Masks." SLIPKNOT's new single, "Psychosocial", is also available for streaming in its entirety on Spinner.com. "Psychosocial" made its way to radio stations yesterday (June 30) and has now been made available for digital download. Percussionist Shawn "Clown" Crahan told The Pulse of Radio everything he could about the track. "One thing I can feel is like that song has got a lot of, like, you know, I would say social anxiety, " he said. "It's got a real good tempo and it's really, you know, today. It's really fun and it's different. I think most of the stuff that we have is different." SLIPKNOT has tapped Colin Richardson (MACHINE HEAD, FEAR FACTORY, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE, NAPALM DEATH) to mix "All Hope is Gone". Due on August 26 via Roadrunner Records, the disc was recorded with producer Dave Fortman (EVANESCENCE, MUDVAYNE) at a studio near the band's hometown of Des Moines, Iowa. SLIPKNOT frontman Corey Taylor said in a press release about the new CD, "Every album we have made is a statement about that space in time. I think this era is the most mature, most beautiful and the most powerful. We have made an album that will show the road behind, the road ahead, and where we are as men. I think it's the best thing I've ever made." The last SLIPKNOT studio album, "Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)", arrived in 2004 and sold more than a million copies in the U.S. SLIPKNOT will co-headline the Rockstar Energy Mayhem tour this summer with DISTURBED. The trek, which also features DRAGONFORCE, MASTODON, MACHINE HEAD and others, kicks off on July 9 in Seattle. Thanks Blabb. 'GUITAR HERO: WORLD TOUR' - NEXT VERSION TO INCLUDE OZZY, SMASHING PUMPKINS, & PARAMORE??
The Pulse of Radio reports that a leaked online consumer response survey may have provided clues to which artists will be represented on Guitar Hero: World Tour, the next installment in the hugely successful video game series. According to Kotaku.com, the survey, generated by a market research firm, indicated that playable digital versions of Ozzy Osbourne, SMASHING PUMPKINS leader Billy Corgan, PARAMORE singer Hayley Williams, (Pictured) former BLINK-182 drummer Travis Barker, JimI Hendrix, Sting and others could all possibly appear in the game. Music from KORN, SYSTEM OF A DOWN, INTERPOL and, making their Guitar Hero debut, TOOL might show up as well. The survey says that the game will feature 85 songs, with FOO FIGHTERS, MUSE and THE DOORS also mentioned. The lineup of Guitar Hero: World Tour has yet to be confirmed. Photos of Billy Corgan in a motion capture suit recently surfaced online, fueling speculation that an avatar of him would appear in an upcoming game. The first artist-specific version of the game, Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, debuted this week, with rumors circulating that Guitar Hero: Metallica will arrive early next year. In other news, another leaked survey indicates that AC/DC could be a primary artist featured on Rock Band 2, a vastly improved upgrade of the blockbuster game that will be first be available on XBox 360 in September before moving to other systems later in the year. Kerrang! magazine reports: SLIPKNOT was nearly forced to cancel its video shoot yesterday (June 30) due to DJ Sid Wilson being hospitalized with a head injury. The band delayed filming of the promo clip for "Psychosocial", the first single from SLIPKNOT's upcoming fourth studio album, "All Hope Is Gone", after Wilson managed to knock himself out BEFORE arriving on set. Percussionist Shawn "The Clown" Crahan told Kerrang!: "Sid's building himself a studio downtown and got attacked by a door knob. Now he's got five staples in his head." "Psychosocial" is available for streaming in its entirety on Spinner.com. "Psychosocial" made its way to radio stations yesterday (June 30) and has now been made available for digital download. SLIPKNOT has tapped Colin Richardson (MACHINE HEAD, FEAR FACTORY, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE, NAPALM DEATH) to mix "All Hope is Gone". Due on August 26 via Roadrunner Records, the disc was recorded with producer Dave Fortman (EVANESCENCE, MUDVAYNE) at a studio near the band's hometown of Des Moines, Iowa. The last SLIPKNOT studio album, "Vol. Thanks Kerrang. JUDAS PRIEST', GLEN TIPTON ILL - GUITARIST DOWN WITH 'INFLAMMED APPENDIX' / SHOWS CANCELLED.
Hey Tipton... soak yer' appendix in Jagermiester. That shit fixes everything. Seriously, I hope he feels better soon, cus' I've scored some primo seats for their July 17th show. JUDAS PRIEST management representative Jayne Andrews has issued the following update: "Unfortunately, we have had to cancel two shows — tonight [July 1] in Belgrade [Serbia] and tomorrow [July 2] in Zagreb [Croatia]. This is due to Glenn Tipton [guitar] being ill. He has been pretty sick for about a week now but has struggled on regardless. He has been in a lot of pain and has been told be a doctor that he is suffering from a very painful appendix inflammation and needs to come back to the UK to see a specialist which he is doing today. He has been instructed by the doctor not to perform for a couple of days. This is the first time in the history of JUDAS PRIEST that we have had to cancel any shows and we are very sorry to all those disappointed fans. However, Glenn's health must come first! Many thanks for understanding!" JUDAS PRIEST's new double-disc concept album, "Nostradamus", sold 42,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 11 on The Billboard 200 chart. This marks the band's highest-ever chart position in the U.S. In Canada, the CD opened at position No. 9 after shifting close to 4,000 units. JUDAS PRIEST's last CD, "Angel of Retribution", premiered with 58,000 copies in the U.S. back in March 2005 to debut at No. 13. Thanks Blabb. FORMER 'MORBID ANGEL' GUITARIST SPRUNG FROM THE JOINT!
Well, he doesn't look it... .... But ol' Richard Brunelle's shit is more Metal than you or I will probably ever be. According to the web site of the Florida Department of Corrections, former MORBID ANGEL guitarist Richard Brunelle was released from the Zephyrhills Correctional Institution, located just north of Tampa, on June 21, 2008 after serving 14 months for cocaine possession. The official Florida Department of Corrections photo of Brunelle can be viewed below. Brunelle was in MORBID ANGEL from 1985 until 1992 and he appeared on the band's first two albums, 1989's "Altars of Madness" and 1991's "Blessed are the Sick". He returned to the group a couple of times — most notably in 1994 and 1998 — to help out with live work, but he never took part in any additional recording sessions with the band. In a 2002 interview with Metal Side, Brunelle was asked why he left MORBID ANGEL. "I am no longer in MORBID ANGEL because we felt that it was time for me to move on, " he replied. "There were some things that I could not see: I needed to explore a different path." Brunelle formed PATHS OF POSSESSION in 1999 with Randy Butman (SILHAVEN), Jay Fossen and Erin "Goat" Fuller (CRYPTIC WINDS) and appeared on the group's independently released CD-R demo "Legacy in Ashes" in 2000. Thanks Blabb. SEVENDUST - ISSUE OVERSEAS TROOP-TOUR UPDATE.
Sevendust will head overseas to perform for the U.S. Armed Forces in Germany, Kuwait and Afghanistan for the first two weeks of July. Commented guitar player Clint Lowery: "Just resting up from the last run [of dates with Sevendust] and again, it was the best. All of you that we had a chance to chill with, talk to, hang with, it was a pleasure! The crowds were great as always. The Sevendust family is alive and well and we appreciate all of you more than words can say. "We only have three days off before we all hop back on a plane, fly across the ocean to Germany to begin our USO tour that you've maybe heard about. To be able to go over there and experience this, play for the troops, take in those elements and stories will be life-changing for us as a band. Not that we'll need any more material to write about for a new record (because trust when I say we do when the time comes), we always can use more. I personally don't know what I feel about the war but I support the men and women over there doing their jobs 110%. God bless all of them and anyone affected by this war. I just want to do what the damn music is meant to do, forget about everything for a sec and let out some aggression, happiness, sadness, whatever you need to let out! Thanks Blabb. DAYLIGHT DIES - POSTPONE ALBUM RELEASE FOR 2 MORE WEEKS.
Due to unforeseen difficulties with the printing of the new DAYLIGHT DIES album ‘Lost To The Living’, Candlelight Records have regretfully had to postpone its UK & European release date until 14th July 2008. This difficult decision has been taken in order to ensure that the band’s vision for their stunning new album is preserved, and to make sure it looks as good as it sounds! ‘Lost To The Living’ features captivatingly dark original artwork from renowned artist Travis Smith, who has worked with the band before and whose other previous collaborations include Opeth, Anathema & Katatonia! With their new album, DAYLIGHT DIES have put forth the most mature and varied release of their career. The lush textures which were introduced with the previous album continue and are greatly expanded upon. Acoustic and clean guitars ride alongside heavy rhythms more prevalently than previously, creating a multi-layered sound saturated in atmosphere and depth. 'Lost to the Living' is a mix of beautiful melancholic leads and harsh dissonant rhythms: despair driven hooks and the overall dark atmosphere you've come to expect. The release date for ‘Lost To The Living’ through sites such as itunes remains unaffected, and the album will be available for download from 30th June 2008. Thanks The Gauntlet. # 1 July: Thanks Metalsucks.com RED, HOT - "NEW ROCK/ALTERNATIVE RELEASES" STARTING
It's a slow week for Alternative releases. Me?........I'd pick Alkaline Trio over My Chemical Romance, any day. For July /01/2008:
Adron - S/T (New Street) Thanks Exclaim.ca LAMB OF GOD'S, RANDY BLYTHE - APPEARING IN "THE GRAVES", SLASHER FILM.
Ya wanna make this thing killer... .use LOG's "Sacrament" album, as the film score. "Walk With Me In Hell", "Foot To The Throat", hell, any of them'll do! LAMB OF GOD frontman, Randy Blythe, is appearing in the Horror/blood n' entrails film, "The Graves". "The Graves" is Randy's first foray into film. He plays Deacon Luke, one of the evil denizens of Skull City. Commented Randy: "I recently returned from the blazing hot Arizona desert where I was trying my hand at 'acting' (insert rolling of many eyes and 'Great, ANOTHER musician who thinks he's an 'actor" quote here) in the upcoming film 'The Graves'. Brian also happens to be a metal head from waaaaay back — his character Evil Ernie is partially based on my pal Bobby Blitz of OVERKILL fame. Brian and I met at Ozzfest '04 through our mutual friend James 'The Metal Legend' Collins and have been friends ever since. JC had mentioned to me that Brian was making a movie, so the next time LAMB rolled through Phoenix, Brian came out, and I pressured him into giving me a shot at a part. A few auditions later and I had the part of Luke, an upstanding citizen of the town of Unity, AZ, where the film is set. " "Without giving too much away, the movie is about two sisters who road trip through the desert and wind up in Unity. Something not so nice is happening there, and the man behind it appears to be the local Reverend, played by Tony Todd ('Candyman', 'Platoon', and a ton of other stuff). Luke is basically the Rev's right hand man, an enforcer of sorts. The two (smokin' hot) sisters get caught up in the mix, and as often happens in horror movies, some blood is spilled here and there. Luke definitely gets his hands dirty. "Acting was a lot harder than I thought it would be — an incredible amount of work goes into capturing just 30 seconds of film. It was also a hell of a lot of fun (I mean, c'mon — whose gonna have a bad time on the set of a horror movie?). The film is being edited right now, then shopped for distribution, with a tentative October premier." The film stars Tony Todd ("Candyman") and Bill Moseley ("The Devil's Rejects") and was written and directed by former comic book writer Brian Pulido. Brian is a long time comic book author (creator of 'Lady Death', 'Evil Ernie', and founder of Chaos Comics) Thanks Blabb. SLIPKNOT'S "PSYCHOSOCIAL' - STREAMING HERE, PLUS IS THIS MICK THOMSONS NEW MASK?
SLIPKNOT's new single, "Psychosocial". is available for streaming in its entirety on guitarist MICK THOMSONS MYSPACE In other news, Thomson has posted a photo (see above) of what may or may not be his new mask. "Psychosocial" will make its way to radio stations today (June 30) and be available online July 1. I think most of the stuff that we have is different." SLIPKNOT has tapped Colin Richardson (MACHINE HEAD, FEAR FACTORY, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE, NAPALM DEATH) to mix its fourth label album titled "All Hope is Gone". I think it's the best thing I've ever made." Thanks blabb & Mick Thomson Myspace. SERJ TANKIAN - ISSUE'S "LIE, LIE, LIE" AS NEXT SINGLE. TRACK TO BE USED FOR NBC HORROR SERIES.
I just can't work up any enthusiasm for either the Tankian, or the arrogant little asshat, Malkian's, solo shit. Thats cus, apart... ...these guys are FAR LESS than the sum of System Of A Down! The Pulse of Radio reports: Serj Tankian has issued "Lie Lie Lie" as the latest single from his 2007 debut solo album, "Elect the Dead". Although the song is just making its way onto radio stations now, you might have already heard it on TV as the opening theme for NBC's new horror series, "Fear Itself". Tankian told The Pulse of Radio that "Lie Lie Lie" started out as a different type of song altogether. "It was a serious song, and it wasn't working out in the studio. It was, you know, I was tracking that song with other lyrics, like really serious, heavy, potent lyrics, and I would go back to the control room and listen to it and go, 'Something's wrong with this song, like, I'm not getting the vibe, what's wrong with it?' And I realized that the music is so playful and so humorous and yet the lyrics were so serious and heavy, you know." Tankian told The Pulse of Radio last week that the highlights of his last eight months on the road may soon be documented in a DVD featuring videos, live performances and behind-the-scenes footage. -- The SYSTEM OF A DOWN singer is working with playwright Steven Sater on composing the score for a musical called "Prometheus Bound" and also plans to record a jazz album. Tankian will perform a theatre show in Los Angeles on August 2, before heading to Dallas for an appearance at the single-day Ozzfest with OZZY OSBOURNE and METALLICA on August 9. Thanks TPOR. "DIE YOUNG" ARRESTED IN CANADA - FOR BEING IN THE COUNTRY "TOO LONG".
I was supposed to see these guys in Victoria.............. But thats NOT going to happen. Because 'Die Young' have the honour of being Canadian "border-bunnies". Houston, TX's Die Young were arrested in Vancouver this week after playing nearly two weeks in Canada without visas. The band have now been deported back to the U.S., where they're currently finishing up their remaining dates on the tour. An statement from the band was posted on Lambgoat: "We were unloading the van in Vancouver on Tuesday night when some cops approached us and told us they knew we had stayed in Canada much longer than we had clearance for. In a matter of minutes a another cop in a paddywagon arrived, and two immigration officers showed up. We got whisked off in handcuffs for a long night of several different holding cells, and then we got delivered back to the US border Wednesday morning in handcuffs and shackles. It was fucked up to say the least, but there's little else to do but laugh at ourselves in a situation like that. Once again, we have been banned from Canada for another year. Shit happens, but at least we made 12 out of the 14 shows in Canada we had booked, and they were totally worth it. Thanks to everyone for their support. We apologize to our friends in Vancouver and Victoria, BC. It looks like we will miss you again this year. To our friends in the states, do not worry, we're still making all our upcoming shows. This comes just a couple weeks after the band posted the following cheeky update on their website: "The shows in Canada have been amazing so far. To say the least, we are very lucky to be here. We almost did not make through the border." Thanks Exclaim.ca BECK - 3 NEW SINGLES FROM "MODERN GUILT" ON iLIKE. AMAZON.COM DOING PRE-SALES.

In the footsteps of Dust Brothers, Spiritualized and P.M. Dawn, electro rock outfit UNKLE have been handpicked by X-Files creator Chris Carter to do their own reinterpretation of the TV show's classic theme song, as well as lend an original to the upcoming search for truth on the big screen. "There was something I was looking for at the end credit of the movie, and it needed to be a really specific beat, " Carter recently told Billboard. "I had gone to see the Police over the summer. They opened the show with 'Reggatta De Blanc,' which is one of my favourite Police songs. I love that song, and it was in my head as I was writing the movie. Then [20th Century Fox music supervisor] Danielle Diego gave me this UNKLE piece, and I realized that was really what I was looking for. Immediately I called her and I said, 'I think I've got my end-credit piece.'" The UNKLE song Carter is referring to is "Broken" from the group's 2007 effort War Stories, whose lyrics and beat fit the flick to a tee, according to Carter. "It's funny, because the lyrics ended up working unexpectedly, " Carter said. "It's really the beat that's the perfect fit for the end of the film." According to Billboard, UNKLE's main man James Lavelle was more than happy to contribute to the project, saying he was a huge fan of the TV series and had "seen every episode." Along with the film collaboration, Carter and Lavelle also gave word they plan to work together on a future musical project. Apparently, Carter is a self-proclaimed "student drummer" and has recently began trying his hand behind to decks. "[Lavelle's] sense of tempo and beat and the blending of it will be a beautiful match for some ideas that I have, " Carter says. The new X-Files soundtrack is due out July 22 via Decca, just days before the film The X-Files: I Want to Believe hits theatres on July 25. 0News Slab: Prime news cuts from the metal and rock worldSATURDAY, JUNE 28/29,2008: WEEKEND EDITION - "TO/DIE/FOR" - RECORDING DEMO'S & 'MAYBE,' DURAN DURAN COVER FOR NEW ALBUM.
Finnish gothic metal band TO/DIE/FOR will be in the studio July 8-11 recording demos for its next album. According to the group, the upcoming CD will include a cover song from either THE LORDS OF THE NEW CHURCH or from DURAN DURAN. In addition, the band has just written a new song called "Johnny the Vampire", which I said to be "a parody about a gothic boy." In a recent interview with Metalraw.com, TO/DIE/FOR singer Jape Peratalo stated about the group's current label situation, "Our contract with Spinefarm expired and maybe there [was a] possibility to continue with them, I do not know. But we decided to start to looking for something new. Spinefarm Records is OK. But it seems like they have no interest or time for band like we are. They have too many bands to handle. That's why we felt like we are not getting enough things like promotion etc. There are some labels who are interested in us, but this time we are not gonna hurry. We need a company who is ready to work for us with huge motivation. At the moment, I am writing new songs for TO/DIE/FOR, also other guys are writing new stuff. We are gonna be alive in the future more than ever!" TO/DIE/FOR's fifth album, "Wounds Wide Open", was released in Finland in October 2006. The follow-up to 2005's "IV", "Wounds Wide Open" was recorded by Samu Oittinen at Fantom Studios and by Jari-Jukka Nippala at Sonic Image, and was mixed at Sweden's Abyss Studios by Peter Tägtgren (DIMMU BORGIR, CELTIC FROST). Thanks Blabb. SHINEDOWN - KICKS STAGNENT ROCK SCENE IN THE BALLS, WITH NEW VIDEO/TRACK, "DEVOUR".
CHRIST!!! This kicks mucho ass, my bray!! Florida hard Rockers SHINEDOWN, just threw 220 volts into the Rock-Pool, with the Video/Single "Devour"! Frontman Brent Smith tells The Pulse of Radio what the track is about: "This was a song that was totally representative of the men and women of the United States of America in the military and all the armed forces and what they do for us. But in all reality — it's a hat's off to them and all they do for us. But it's also me looking into the eye of the person I'm supposed to look at as the leader of the free world and this is my opinion towards you for what you've done in those years." "Devour", the new video from the Jacksonville, Florida-based hard rock/post-grunge band SHINEDOWN, can be VIEWED RIGHT HERE! The track is featured on the band's newly released "The Sound Of Madness" album, which was produced by multiple Grammy Award winner Rob Cavallo (KID ROCK, GREEN DAY, MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE). "Devour" will serve as the theme song to World Wrestling Entertainment's June pay-per-view event "Night of Champions", slated for June 29. The single will also be featured on ESPN throughout the current Major League Baseball season. Thanks The Pulse Of Radio. MICK MARS - MOTLEY CRUE'S GUITARIST, FINALLY 'CARBON-DATED'.
Motley Crue's ONLY member with a molecule of talent, Mick Mars, lets the cat outa the bag regarding his age. In this recent interview, he lets on that he's 57. Shit, I coulda wore he wasn't a day over 85! In recent photos, he's looking like Count Chocula. To be fair... ..the poor bastards suffering from, "ankylosing spondylitis", a degenerative rheumatoid disease, & a degenerative bone condition. So, giving the way he can still rip the riffs off... .hats off to him. Here's Mick & Sixx:
Christa Titus of Reuters.com recently conducted an interview with MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist NikkI Sixx and guitarist Mick Mars. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow. Q: Do you think MÖTLEY can go another 20 years? Mars: No. (Laughs.) No. Only because in 20 years I'll be 77. I don't want to be on tour when I'm 77. That's a bit too geezed-out to me. I'm always going to be playing. Always, always, always. I don't know how much I would be touring at that point, because I don't think I'm going to make a very pretty old man. (Laughs.) But I'll always be writing and always be playing and writing for other bands or writing for MÖTLEY and just putting out records, if nothing else. Sixx: I don't even want to think about that. Gives me a headache. (Laughs.) I just want to have my camera bag and be in some dangerous situation in some foreign country taking pictures. That's what I want to be doing in 20 years. ... (Laughs.) I'm just passionate about photography, passionate about art, the whole concept. I can't even imagine the idea of musicians on a stage playing their music for people in 20 years. It just seems there's going to be another way to reach people. Look how much has happened in 10 years. Imagine 20 years. We might be able to dial up and have NikkI Sixx in your bedroom. Not that in 20 years I could do much damage. (Laughs.) Read the entire interview at Reuters.com. NORWAY'S KICK-ASS, SUSPERIA - ISSUE UPDATE ON NEW ALBUM!
In my opinion, these guys are THE current top Norwegian Metal act. Hell, they're probably in the top 4 Scandinavian current "Metal bands that matter". Which is why the following is great f@#king news: SUSPERIA have issued the following update: "Time to break the silence. It's been a long time since we gave you an update on what's happening in the SUSPERIA camp. You may think we've been sitting around doing nothing, but we actually got our asses into gear and have been working hard writing and doing pre-production work for the next album. We have about ten songs on the go at various stages of completion and everything is going well. Our creative juices are flowing!! At this moment we're in hard, fast and melodic mode. Athera [vocals] is in free flow with the lyrics. It's still early days, so we can't give you a full idea of what to expect yet, who knows what's coming!! "You may already be aware that in August we get the chance to escape from working on the album. We will play at the Metal Rock Festival in Lillehammer, Norway on Saturday 16th August. -- We're playing alongside OPETH, MY DYING BRIDE and a load of other cool bands, so get yourself down there for a good time. We'll let you know our stage time soon. Thanks Susperia Myspace. SEPULTURA FINISH RECORDING NEW ALBUM.
Can't wait for this to come out & shut up all the Cavalera-cultists. Say what you want, but Dante was killer! If Kisser & the big 'Green' giant, Derrick Green comes thru... ...... ............This could be a kick in the ass for Max & Igor. Brazilian thrashers SEPULTURA entered the studio last month to begin recording their new album, which is based on the Anthony Burgess novel "A Clockwork Orange" (later turned into the classic film by Stanley Kubrick). Bassist Paulo Xisto Pinto Jr. has issued the following update: "Tonight [June 27] is basically our last day of recording of the new material for the new album!!! So far we're very happy with the results!!! Tomorrow morning we will be coming back to the studio to listen to the whole material to make sure that everything is in the right place for the mixing that will be starting on the next July 12th!!! Hope to see all on tour before the end of the year!!!" SEPULTURA's forthcoming CD will be the group's first to feature drummer Jean Dolabella, who replaced founding member Igor Cavalera in 2006. Igor has since reunited with his brother and former SEPULTURA frontman Max Cavalera in CAVALERA CONSPIRACY. Thanks Sepultura Myspace. AVENGED SEVENFOLD - WIN THIS WEEK'S "MAKE ME GAG" QUOTE.
The band we love to hate here, AVENGED SEVENFOLD (The reason's we hate em' are 10 fold) have come up with the quote that made us retch. ....repeatedly. On tour, opening for Maiden....apparently, the band can "Feel The Love". fuck! "We heard horror stories about opening for MAIDEN. Everything from standing backwards on stage so that the trash coming from the audience didn't hit you in the face to having bottles filled with piss thrown at your head. So after the show we felt pretty good about everything since we got to play for a lot of people and we got to see how many great fans we had there representing. So when you go to these shows, don't get upset if people don't understand just yet what AVENGED SEVENFOLD is all about. We are not a straight-up metal band that is catering to their audience, we do our own thing and that's why we have so many dedicated fans. "We did this same thing two years ago with METALLICA: the difference then was that we had 40,000 kids a night with their arms crossed and not many fans. Now we are --"Feeling The Love From You Guys"-- and the one thing this tour is proving to us is that we need to come back and headline for you all after this is over. "So the point is we are having a great time at the shows, and you should too. Don't get all upset about a couple bottles being thrown, next year half those kids may have A7X on their iPod and we could be their new favorite band. God... I feel so sick. Thanks Blabb. ANOTHER THING, "NOT TO GIVE A SHIT ABOUT" - TOMMY LEE SAYS 'MAYBE THERE'LL BE ANOTHER ROCKSTAR SUPERNOVA ALBUM".
Tommy Lee wants to punish the record buying public with another Rockstar Supernova album. Why? Nobody bought the first one.
About Heavy Metal, asked Tommy Lee: "Will there be another ROCK STAR SUPERNOVA album?" Tommy: We haven't all played together in a while, and it was such a blast. We were all saying we have to do this again. Maybe we will, who knows? Right now it's Camp Mötley. On my tour bus, I have a recording studio and I'll be writing some music. Maybe we'll do some SUPERNOVA stuff. I'm also doing some voiceover work for a new animated series on Fox called "The Life And Times Of Jimmy Jaxx". It's loosely based on me. It's really fun and it's different. I think most of the stuff that we have is different." Thanks Blabb. NIN - "THE SLIP", TO BE OFFERED AS CD/DVD JULY 22/08.

Jason from The Gauntlet, brings this report on yet MORE stupid things to pour forth from Kiss fossil, Gene Simmons' cock holster: This weeks Metal Diva is Gene Simmons of KISS. In a recent interview, the KISS bassist commented on Radiohead's unique pricing structure. "The record industry is dead. It's six feet underground and unfortunately the fans have done this. They've decided to download and file share. There is no record industry around so we're going to wait until everybody settles down and becomes civilized . As soon as the record industry pops its head up we'll record new material." Gene has always portrayed himself as the cool dude in rock, yet his comments show his age and ignorance. Not only did Radiohead make a ton of money with it's 'user picks the price' offer, but many other unsigned acts have done so as well. Maybe the band should look at its last few albums and see who is really to blame for it's decline in sales. Thanks Jason@ The Gauntlet. WEILAND - "LOOGIE-LAUNCHES" TO DRIVE HOME THAT PISSED-OFF FEELING.
Needle-dick's at it again........ The Los Angeles Times' Chris Lee has provided a little bit of gross context for his Stone Temple Pilots profile on the paper's blog. At the same time Weiland was giving the writer quotes like "I live my life the way I live my life. I don't have to make any apologies, " he was also launching "huge green" loogies at the wall behind the DeLeo brothers, who did not seem ruffled by the sudden appearance of expectorate. While I admire Weiland's indignation ("hey, how does it feel to be going to jail for six hours?" is indeed a douche move), Lou Reed knows that while loogies may not be forgotten by those who witness their deployment, retorts along the lines of "What are you, a fucking asshole?" read better in print. Where's your head at right now just before going to jail? SW:"All these questions are ..., man. Who do you interview? To what level?" A lot of famous musicians. Not Michael Jackson-famous, though. SW:"Do you interview Keith Richards? David Bowie? Do you interview people who over a 20-year career who aren't ... born-again Christians? Who aren't part of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir?" Um, yes. A lot of those guys. I interviewed Bowie but not Keith. SW:"Then you should know. Our contribution is music, you know? This is the problem with the press. Are you part of the paparazzi?" I write for the Los Angeles Times. SW:"Is there a difference anymore?" Well, the paparazzI don't write. They take pictures. SW:"I'm not so sure, man. Rolling Stone is borderline these days." If I've said something that put your nose out of joint, I apologize. SW:"My nose isn't out of joint. I live my life the way I live my life. I don't have to make any apologies. I just find it a little hilarious that you'd ask such a question." At this point... Cccchh-www-thhsptttt [Weiland spits on the wall].

Hah!...He should be pumping out some 'Rotting Christ', or 'Psalm 69 - by Ministry'. That'd make the Jesus freaks sqirm. David Hurst of Altoona Mirror reports: It seems church services at Believers Fellowship Church [in Revloc, Pennsylvania] have become part of a rock 'n' soul showdown between a lively congregation and a heavy metal-loving neighbor. Since Joe Vermeulin moved into the former Holy Redeemer Church parsonage next door, church members say their services have been interrupted by outdoor speakers blaring BLACK SABBATH, MARILYN MANSON and AC/DC's ditty "Hell's Bells", creating friction between the sides. But Vermeulin, whose home is about 15 feet from the church, and some neighbors believe the church's musical worship and electric praise band are too loud. While Vermeulin says he isn't trying to incite the church with his radio, he and neighbors are collecting signatures to urge the church to tone it down. Believers Fellowship, run by Tunstall and his wife, Michele, moved into Revloc six years ago, taking over a shuttered Catholic church. Tunstall says Vermeulin moved in a short while later, and that's when trouble started. "It's harassment, " said church member Dennis Stock, who said he's tried to talk to Vermeulin but gotten nowhere. Vermeulin says he is the one being harassed - and that he cannot take it anymore. The police have been called to the scene at least twice. The last time, an officer talked with both parties during a service. After talking to Vermeulin, the porch speakers were turned down, avoiding any citations, township Officer Jim Melnyk said. 'You can only be pushed so far," Vermeulin said, denying he's ever played heavy metal outside. He turned up AC/DC's "You Shook Me All Night Long" once, he says, "because they've been doing that to me for years." Read the entire article from Altoona Mirror. Ya like it thick n' chewy? Check New Orleans Sludge-slingers CROWBAR, out RIGHT HERE CROWBAR guitarist/vocalist Kirk Windstein (who does double duty in DOWN) has posted the following message on the band's official web site: "Hey, rockers and rockettes. It's been a while since I made a post on here, but I feel it's time to let you know what's going on. I've got about eight songs' worth of riffs written so far and will be jamming with Tommy [Buckley, drums] and Pat [Patrick Bruders, bass] soon on these ideas. "2009 will be the 20th anniversary of CROWBAR!!! We will be putting out a new CD and tour[ing] endlessly on this thing. I literally want to play every country that's got electricity!!! "Believe me, CROWBAR is far from over. It will never die as long as I'm walking this Earth. So be prepared for the heaviest band in the world to destroy your senses very soon. The "Time Heals Nothing" album also contains six bonus tracks — four audio and two video. Thanks Blabb. "TONS OF AC/DC"! - NEW ALBUM TO BE RELEASED IN AUGUST, THRU WALMART (US). PLUS, ORIGINAL VOCALIST CALLS HIS DISMISAL, "BULLSHIT".
According to Sony/BMG, AC/DC's as-yet-untitled forthcoming album will be released in August. As previously reported, AC/DC will sell its new album only through Wal-Mart Stores Inc in the United States. It is still unclear if the same distribution deal has been negotiated in Canada. According to Wikipedia, singer Brian Johnson revealed that for the first time since the 1988 album Blow Up Your Video, he would be handling lyrics. He also said that Angus Young has written harder riffs than those on their last album, Stiff Upper Lip (2000). The band recently finished the album in Vancouver, BC with producer Brendan O'Brien (BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN) and engineer Mike Fraser (METALLICA, AEROSMITH, VAN HALEN). ALSO: According to The Daily Record, AC/DC is rumored to have pencilled in a date at Glasgow, Scotland's SECC in January which could be followed by a world tour. AND MORE:
According to The Sydney Morning Herald, original AC/DC singer Dave Evans has dismissed as "bullshit" the version of his departure from the band published in the AC/DC "bible", Clinton Walker's "Highway To Hell". In the book, Walker calls Evans a "shameless exhibitionist … in his position more for the way he looked than the way he sang." The group's guitarist, Angus Young, also recalls throwing Evans off the stage for his embarrassing drunken antics. "It's all bullshit. A pack of lies, " Evans said. "Can you imagine anyone throwing me, the King of all Badasses, off the stage? [Walker] never interviewed me and I wanted to strangle him." From his home in Dallas, Evans gave his version of events. "It was just a case of clashing personalities. We all had these young egos and we were like rams butting heads. In retrospect, I suppose I should have just shut up, but I was a strong personality, " he said. Thanks BW&BK. JUST IN! - JAMIE LEE CURTIS & EX: QUEENSRYCHE GUITARIST, CHRIS DEGARMO ARE "THE SAME PERSON!"
The guys over at Metalsucks have brought this to everybodys attention. "Does a certain long-legged (and possibly male) movie vixen look like a certain ex-guitarist of Queensryche? Why yes, I think so." Hell... which ones Curtis? They could be siamese twins for all we know. This explains why Geoff Tate wanted DeGarmo in the band. Gotta wonder if Tate ever tried putting the moves on Curtis, I mean Degarmo? Could be the reason she's... I mean he's gone. Thanks Metalsucks. METALLICA - MORE "DEATH MAGNETIC" RUMOURS, TO WASTE YOUR TIME.
You can expect Metallica rumours to bung up the net, right up to "Death Magnetic's" release. According to Finland's Record Shop X, the Finnish release date for the new METALLICA album, "Death Magnetic", is Wednesday, September 17. Although no official release date has yet been announced, it is likely that the CD will be issued in the U.S. on September 16, with most of continental Europe receiving the album on Monday, September 15 (except Germany, Austria and Switzerland, where fans will presumably be able to purchase the CD on Friday, September 12). METALLICA's ninth studio effort, "Death Magnetic" will contain either 10 or 11 tracks. No song titles have been confirmed, although "My Apocalypse" was cited as one by Rolling Stone magazine. The band did not play any new songs at the recent Bonnaroo festival, although a selected group of U.S. and U.K. journalists have had a chance to preview six tunes from the upcoming release. "Death Magnetic" was produced by METALLICA and Rick Rubin, and marks the recording debut of bassist Robert Trujillo, who joined the lineup in 2003 shortly after the last METALLICA album, "St. Anger", was completed. Thanks Blabb. THE DARON MALAKIAN SHOW - EGO SET AT 10, & TOUR ANNOUNCED.

0News Slab: Prime news cuts from the metal and rock worldWEDNESDAY, JUNE 25/08: - AXL ROSE - BRINGS OUT FBI THUGS TO HELP PLUG 'LEAKED ALBUM'!
Living up to it's name, Rose's "Chinese Democracy", has got 'da man' working for it. Last week, the Internet was rocked when California blogger Kevin Skwerl posted nine newly leaked Chinese Democracy tracks, including three previously unheard songs allegedly from Guns n’ Roses long-awaited album. Skwerl — who used to work in the distribution department of Universal Music and is now a Web designer — runs the blog Antiquiet, and says he received the tracks from “an anonymous online source.” Yesterday Skwerl was surprised to find himself face to face with two FBI agents who paid a visit to his day job. “It was kind of an ambush,” Skwerl tells Rolling Stone. “When I came back from lunch they were waiting in the lobby for me. It’s a little creepy they know where I work.” Two young FBI officers, who Skwerl describes as “Mulder and Scully types,” questioned him for 15 minutes about where he got the tracks and made plans to visit his house at 7:00 a.m. this morning. “I wasn’t sure if they were going to come by with a warrant and trash the place, like in the movies,” he says. “It was nothing like that.” The FBI officials wanted to see the original files, but Skwerl erased them last week per instructions from Axl Rose’s attorneys. Skwerl ultimately gave them second-hand files that are now widely available on the Internet. Last week Skwerl’s blog crashed from the traffic flood that resulted from his controversial posting. “My host contacts me and says, ‘What the fuck did you do?’” I go, “Uhhhh. I posted some music.” He goes, “What exactly did you post?” I go, “Uhhhh. [Meek voice] New Guns n’ Roses.” He goes, “Motherfucker.” Before long his cell phone rang with an unfamiliar 323 number. “It was a really cool guy from the Gn’R camp that was a middle man between someone who was very angry and me. He was trying to reach out and see if I’d go without a fight, which is more or less what I did.” Skwerl agreed to take them down, but a cease-and-desist letter soon followed threatening possible legal action. “I’m not so worried about that,” Skwerl says. “It’s a legal grey area since it wasn’t for download, it wasn’t a finished product. We aren’t sure who owns the recordings. I feel like I might survive this.” Thanks Rolling Stone.com DIMMU BORGIR'S SHAGRATH - DELIVERS SECOND 'SIDE-PROJECT' ALBUM.
