AND THE WEEKS BEST NEWS? - "KILLING JOKE" ORIGINAL LINEUP REUNITES FOR NEW ALBUM & WORLD TOUR.

F#@kin' near fell off my seat & had a "Metal-rapture" my bray!!!

After 25 yrs, KILLING JOKES "Original" lineup, Bassist Martin "Youth" Glover & drummer, Paul Ferguson join Jaz & Geordie for a new album & world tour.

The tour will see KILLING JOKE take up a two night residency in most venues offering a different set on each evening. On the first night, they will play their first two albums in their entirety, 1980's self-titled album followed by the LP "What's This…For!" Their second performance in each city will treat fans to 1994's "Pandemonium" and the Island Records singles of '79 to '80.

Notorious for their use of inflammatory imagery, a backlash against a world they perceived as ever more materialistic, unjust and conservative, KILLING JOKE, railed against the establishment and created a unique sound from their very conception.

Ironically, in the current musical climate with its obsession with rehashing Eighties sounds, the '80s saw KILLING JOKE really pushing music forward, incorporating danceable elements with aggressive, grinding guitars and thumping drums. With elements of proto-techno rock, their post apocalyptic vision has inspired bands as diverse and influential as NIRVANA, MINISTRY, NINE INCH NAILS, FOO FIGHTERS, SOUNDGARDEN and GODFLESH. KILLING JOKE have always been and continue to be more than just a band.

Godfathers of post-punk, KILLING JOKE return with their eagerly anticipated new album to coincide with their world tour. The release date for the new CD will be announced later.

KILLING JOKE live dates (venues to be confirmed):

Sep. 13 - Tokyo, Japan
Sep. 14 - Tokyo, Japan
Sep. 16 - Madrid, Spain
Sep. 17 - Barcelona, Spain
Sep. 19 - Milan, Italy
Sep. 20 - Milan, Italy

Sep. 27 - Paris, France
Sep. 29 - Brussels, Belgium
Sep. 30 - Brussels, Belgium
Oct. 02 - London, UK
Oct. 03 - London, UK

Two shows in New York City are also in the works.

Any further dates added will be announced.

HELMET - ANNOUNCE NEW GUITARIST.

Perhaps one of the most influential Alt-Metallers in existance today, Helmet, have offered this update:

Alternative rock pioneers HELMET have announced the addition of guitarist Dan Beeman to the group's ranks. Beeman replaces the band's most recent axeman, Jimmy Thompson, who reportedly decided to move back to his native Australia at the end of 2007.

In a recent interview with Ultimate-Guitar.com, HELMET mainman Page Hamilton stated about Dan, "He is from Minneapolis and his . . . brother Pete is the drummer in BURNING BRIDES who toured with us [before].

"Dan knew all of us in HELMET and loved the music of HELMET and had just moved to Los Angeles a couple of months before we auditioned him. So it just worked out great for him and for us too. So we're really fortunate."

Thanks Helmet Myspace.

The song "Kaliforn-Eye-A", which features vocals from Muir, allowed P.O.D. to collaborate with an "iconic punk rock figure that played an influence on us as a band, " guitarist Marcos Curiel, who rejoined the band in 2006, told Billboard.com. "It's a more upbeat song about where we came from."

ALABAMA'S, "MAYLENE AND THE SONS OF DISASTER" - ANNOUNCE LINE-UP CHANGES, ETC.

Probably the hardest working & rocking act outa Alabama, MAYLENE & THE SONS OF DISASTER, have issued a "heavy-duty update":

Vocalist Dallas Taylor of the Birmingham, Alabama-based nand MAYLENE AND THE SONS OF DISASTER has issued the following update:

"We have some news to announce. MAYLENE has recently undergone a lineup change.

"Due to the rigors of the road Lee Turner [drums], Scott Collum [guitar] and Josh Williams [guitar] are no longer in the band. We remain good friends and wish them the best of luck and continued success.

"As for MAYLENE AND THE SONS OF DISASTER we are better than ever. We are excited to announce our new members: Chad Huff, Kelly Scott Nunn and Matt Clark.

"They have been long time friends of ours and some are former bandmates. You might know them from their work in UNDEROATH, FURTHER SEEMS FOREVER, SLEEPING BY THE RIVERSIDE and GODS.

"Josh Cornutt remains in the band but being a newlywed he is currently at home spending time with his wife (and writing for our next record).

"We have also started working on a new record and we are really excited by the material the new guys are coming up with.

"Thank all of you for all the support, and believe me nothing has changed in the MAYLENE camp we are just growing a lot and you can expect us to be better than ever."

Thanks M&TSOD Myspace.

R.E.M - ANNOUNCE RELEASE DATE OF "ACCELERATE".

I hope Micheal Stipe has ditched the retarted strip of face-paint he's been sporting at R.E.M gigs at times. May as well strap a hockey helmet on him & take him to a zoo, to complete the look.

R.E.M. are counting down the time to the release of Accelerate, their 14th studio album, on a website, www.ninetynights.com. The site, which features a new high-definition video snippet each day that can be downloaded then edited, embedded, or manipulated however the user wishes. Each snippet is being posted in high-resolution HD format and available for download for a period of 24 hours before being archived on the site as a low-resolution stream. The clips were shot by noted French filmmaker Vincent Moon, who has worked with Arcade Fire, The Shins and The National among other artists.

In what is set to be an active year for the band, R.E.M. has also so far announced two upcoming live appearances. The band will headline the Langerado Music Festival on March 8th at the Big Cypress Seminole Indian Reservation in South Florida, and will also perform at Stubb's Bar-B-Que on March 12th during the annual South-by-Southwest Music Festival in Austin, TX.

R.E.M. will also be touring North America this May and June in support of Accelerate.

"WIBUMBA--METAL & HARD ROCK TRIVIA" - MORE USELESS INFO TO IMPRESS YOUR FRIENDS.

MASTODON was formed in late 1999 when Brann Dailor and Bill Kelliher, former members of both Lethargy and Today is the Day, moved to Atlanta and met Troy Sanders, formerly of Knuckle, Four Hour Flogger, and Social Infestation, and Brent Hinds, formerly of Four Hour Flogger and Fiend Without A Face, at a High on Fire show where they discovered they had a mutual appreciation of psychedelic metal bands The Melvins and Neurosis and '70s hard-rockers Thin Lizzy.

Mastodon are now signed to Warner Bros.. Their third studio album, titled Blood Mountain, was released on September 12, 2006. On a hidden track on the album, but only in some leaked versions, there is a spoken-word piece from Joshua M. Homme, the vocalist from Queens of the Stone Age, claiming that he uploaded their new album on the internet. Homme also contributed vocals to the album.

On September 9, 2007 the band performed "Colony of Birchmen" live with Josh Homme at the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards. After the televised performance, member Brent Hinds was reported of having a severe head injury. Blabbermouth.net initially reported that it was a result of a brutal assault, but a police report later suggested that an inebriated Hinds initiated a conflict with System of a Down bassist Shavo Odadjian and musician William Hudson. Hinds suffered brain hemorrhaging, a broken nose and two black eyes but made a full recovery.

A recent message from Brent to a fan site states that he is back on his feet and to his old ways.

"BAND NAME ORIGINS"

GWAR - Some rumors: "Gay Women Against Rape" (taken from Dave Gibbon's novel The Watchmen), "God What an Awful Racket", "Gods of War", etc.. A band member on the Jerry Springer Show said they were inspired by the "GWWAAAR" sound that monsters make in movies.

"WIBUMBA--ALMANAC" - CAUSE SHIT HAPPENS ALL YEAR, EVERY YEAR.

MASTODON - COVER TRACK, "ONE", USED ON "ARMY OF TWO" ON X-BOX 360 VIDEO.

Being that frontman Brent Hinds is mending after that mega-beatdown he received last fall... the band is back in motion.

MASTODON's cover version of the THREE DOG NIGHT track "One" is currently being used in the ad campaign for the upcoming multiplatform videogame "Army of Two". A trailer for the game featuring the song can be viewed HERE

"Army of Two" will arrive in stores on March 6.

MASTODON is tentatively scheduled to enter the studio in the spring to begin recording its follow-up to 2006's "Blood Mountain". A late 2008 release via Warner Bros. Records is expected.

Thanks Mastodon myspace.

DISTURBED - NEW SINGLE & VIDEO NAMED, fROM UPCOMING, "INDESTRUCTIBLE".

DISTURBED has set "Inside The Fire" as the first single from its upcoming album "Indestructible", which is tentatively due in May. A video for the song will soon be filmed with director Nathan Cox (QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE, MARILYN MANSON, LINKIN PARK). In a recent interview with RollingStone.com, DISTURBED frontman David Draiman stated about "Inside the Fire", "That's a real racy song. It's about me standing over the body of my girlfriend, who just killed herself, and the Devil is standing over me, whispering in my ear to kill myself."

Draiman told MTV.com that he's had rough couple of years, which will most likely be reflected in some of the new music. He said, "All kinds of horrible stuff went on. Bad breakups: I've had my garage burn down with all of my vehicles in it: I had a bad motorcycle accident that took off a whole bunch of skin from my forearm... just bad luck. It's been a fierce past couple of years."

DISTURBED will be out with SLIPKNOT and other bands on the Rockstar Energy Mayhem tour later this year.

METAL'S, "DEICIDE" - TOPS US MILITARY "TORTURE PLAYLIST", FOR INTERROGATIONS.

Huh... ......what a f@#hin' honor.

Gathered from evidence obtained through various reports, leaked interrogation logs and the accounts of soldiers and detainees, a list of the top 24 songs strategically used on military prisoners in Iraq was recently made public, according to Mother Jones Magazine's website. Among a list of such musical luminaries as EMINEM, METALLICA and AC/DC (as well as non-luminary Barney The Dinosaur), was DEICIDE, coming in at number one with the song "F**k Your God" from 2004's SCARS OF THE CRUCIFIX.

DEICIDE drummer, Steve Asheim, the only thing he could really say was "It's cool. If we're up to military standards of audio abuse, it makes me feel like DECIDE's doing our part for the troops." Of course this moment is not the only history that Asheim has with the armed forces. "My dad was a Marine, as were my uncle and grandfather:" says the DEICIDE skinsman. "I didn't follow in their footsteps since I was so busy with the band thing, but I'm glad I was eventually able to contribute somehow."

Here's the top 10 list:

1.DEICIDE - "Fuck Your God"
2. DOPE - "Die MF DIE"
3. DOPE - "Take Your Best Shot"
4. EMINEM - "White America"
5. EMINEM - "Kim"
6. BARNEY - "Barney Theme Song"
7. DROWNING POOL - "Bodies"
8. METALLICA - "Enter Sandman"
9. MEOW MIX - "Tv Commercial"
10. SESAME STREET - "Tv Themes"

NOTE: the # 24 track was, PRINCE - "Raspberry Beret". Now THAT would get me to say anything to stop the agony & confess to anything.

Thanks Antimusic.

STONE TEMPLE PILOTS - BOOKING MORE ("MIGHT SHOW UP") DATES.

Will Weiland show up for the gig?..........

Or will the Deleo's take turns gargling thru "Vaseline", "Sex Type Thing" & the rest? Just like Velvet Revolver had to do when Weiland bailed on the band last month.

Sorta like Rock-Russian Roulette, when Scott's involved. However... ..

The reunited STONE TEMPLE PILOTS have scheduled the following dates:

May 17 - Columbus, OH - Crew Stadium (Rock on the Range)
May 18 - Camden, NJ - Susquehanna Bank Center (WMMR Event)
May 23 - Indianapolis, IN - Indianapolis Motor Speedway
May 31 - Holmdel, NJ - PNC Garden State Amphitheatre (WXRK Event)
Jun. 01 - Mansfield, MA - Tweeter Center (WBCN Event)
Jun. 07 - Kansas City, MO - [to be announced] (KQRC Event)
Jul. 12 - Toronto, ON - Downsview Park (Edgefest)

More shows will be announced soon.

Weiland even told The Pulse of Radio he could envision making another STP album. "We were never a band that felt like we needed to lean too hard onto our muscle, " he said. "We always felt like we had enough beauty and enough finesse in our music, you know, while we were together, that could carry us into a long career. So for us to make a record at an older age doesn't seem like a stretch, you know, 'cause we were never all about brawn."

Never about reliability either.

Thanks Blabb.

ACE FREHELY - ALBUM TITLE REVEALED.

The spaced-ace, is giving up the tag for his upcoming solo disc.

Original KISS guitarist Ace Frehley has set "Pain in the Neck" as the title of his new solo album, tentatively due in the spring.

"I was all ready and set up to track a record when I was offered the KISS reunion, " Frehley told The Akron Beacon Journal. "I got back with KISS and that kind of derailed me from 1996 to 2001 and it took me a while to get my wits back."

Frehley said he is still putting the finishing touches on "Pain in the Neck", including some scheduled six-string contributions from VELVET REVOLVER/ex-GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Slash.

Thanks AF Myspace.

OZZY - CONFIRMED "SUGAR-JUNKIE".

It's a slow day here at the Rock-Research center.............

..........So ignore the following:

ThisIsNorthScotland.co.uk reports that Ozzy Osbourne apparently misses Sugar Puffs so much when he's away from the UK, he has ordered a consignment to be sent to his Los Angeles home.

The sweet-toothed rocker, 59, apparently loves the cereal so much he put in a request to the British manufacturers Honey Monster Foods for a bumper pack to be sent to the States, reports The Sun.

A source was quoted as saying: "One of the team at Honey Monster Foods received an email with a request from Ozzy Osbourne's people in L.A. asking for them to ship over some boxes of Sugar Puffs. They said it was his favorite breakfast cereal and he was wound up because he couldn't find any over there."

"WIBUMBA--METAL & HARD ROCK TRIVIA" - MORE USELESS INFO TO IMPRESS YOUR FRIENDS.

FILTERS'S, Richard Patrick, was born May 10, 1968 in Bay Village, Ohio. He has played guitar since the age of nine. One of his brothers is actor Robert Patrick.(Terminator 2) Patrick spent two and a half years as the touring guitarist in Nine Inch Nails. Following his departure from Nine Inch Nails, Richard Patrick formed Filter, with Brian Liesegang who left the band after the recording of the band's first album, 1995's Short Bus. 4 years later in 1999, Richard Patrick released Filter's second album, Title of Record with help from guitarist Geno Lenardo.

"The Amalgamut", Filter's third album was released 2002, with Richard Patrick canceling most of the supporting tour to check in to re-hab for his alcoholism problem which had been plaguing him for years. After a 5-year hiatus, Richard Patrick has announced Filter will be releasing a new record in 2008, entitled Anthems for the Damned. Collaborators on the record include Josh Freese (A Perfect Circle, Nine Inch Nails), Wes Borland (Black Light Burns, Limp Bizkit), and John 5 (Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie). The album will be released in May 2008.

IT'S CONFIRMED - "RIPPER"OWENS IS YODELING FOR YNGWIE MALMSTEEN.

It was just a rumour yesterday... .........

Today Malmsteen confirmed it on his web site:

Yngwie Malmsteen - Guitar
Tim "Ripper" Owens (ex-JUDAS PRIEST, ICED EARTH) - Vocals
Bjorn Englen - Bass
Michael Troy - Keyboards
Patrik Johansson - Drums

Owens and the tempermental Malmsteen previously collaborated on a cover of OZZY OSBOURNE's "Mr. Crowley", which appeared on the "Flying High Again: The World's Greatest Tribute to Ozzy Osbourne", released in March 2006 via Magick Records.

We wish Owens the very best of luck... ...........he's gonna need it.

Thanks Blabb.

FILTER - "NEW SINGLE", AVAILABLE HERE!

Ohhh, for the glory days of "Short Bus"..............

But it doesn't look like that will be the case here. Richard Patrick has resurrected FILTER, after Army Of Anyone failed to kick their way outa the "wet paper bag of mediocre Nu-Metal".

Without Geno Lenardo on board, I fear Filter will go the way of AOA. Anyway, click HERE to check out the first release from Anthems Of The Damned, "Soldiers Of Misfourtune".........

.........which is covered in a "radio-friendly sugary-coating". Wes Borland & John 5 are supposed to have contributed, so there is the real possibilty that Patrick could hit the mark with this.

Unlike "Maxim", I'll wait to reserve judgement on the album untill I hear it. Don't get me wrong, I want this album to be good. I grew up with FILTER, & of all the "back to life" acts appearing... ....this is definetly welcome in my books.

Thanks Filter Myspace.

MOTLEY CRUE - "LEE" SAYS WORLD TOUR "ON" FOR JULY 4th START.

What little credibility Tommy lee had.............

Is shot to shit.

A couple of months ago, he was quoted as saying... "He'd had it with Rock music",& "He was done with Motley Crue". He backed that up by expounding the virtue's of "Dance Music" vs Rock, saying he'd quit Crue to pursue DJing.

Which corner of his yap is be yipping from now???

"Nope! I never quit! Silly rumors! We're all together!" Tommy wrote in a February 25, 2008 online posting. "We're goin' on a world tour starting July 4th!!"

.......yay.

Tommy Lee has revealed that the band's world tour will kick off on July 4. The trek is expected to coincide with the release of the group's ninth studio album, titled "The Dirt", which is tentatively due on July 8. A yet-to-be-named single will arrive at radio stations on May 7.

If "karma" was real... ....not a single seat would be sold..................

And Tommy Lee, Vince & Sixx, would just dry up & go away.

Mick Mars, however... .. would keep on playing. As he's the ONLY credible member of Crue.

Thanks MC Myspace.

MUDVAYNE'S, "TRIBBETT" - ON NEW RECORD, "IT'S LIKE STARTING OVER AGAIN". --

The Great Falls Tribune, recently sat down with MUDVAYNE/HELLYEAH guitarist, Greg tribbett, to yak it up a bit:

On MUDVAYNE's latest release, "By The People, For The People", a collection of rarities including live tracks and demos:

"This is stuff that you can't get online. This was in a vault. ... I'm sure you can get it online now after the record has been put out. It was something that nobody had ever heard and was an opportunity for our fans to hear how we wrote (songs), how certain songs came together at first before they made it onto a record."

On the next MUDVAYNE record:

"I've been writing for a couple months, actually. I'll be prepared for it. It's like starting all over again."

On the album's musical direction:

"That's something where everyone's gonna have to wait and see what happens. We're trying some new stuff on the next record and the next tour to keep stepping it up. We definitely have a lot of ideas. Chad's [Gray, vocals] got a lot of interesting things that he's gonna write about."

On the past 18 months, which have been a blur to Tribbett:

"It's been like a roller coaster ride, man. We started writing the HELLYEAH record after MUDVAYNE got done touring 'Lost and Found' and pretty much haven't had a break. We put the record out and started touring it nonstop. In between that we started working on ... 'By The People, For The People' It's been pretty insane."

Thanks TGFT.

SEVENDUST - DROPS OFF "MAYHEM" TOUR.

This is the shits, cus' besides Slipknot, these guys were the ONLY reason to go.

SEVENDUST have posted the following update:

“Due to changes in SEVENDUST’s touring schedule, the band will NOT be appearing on the Mayhem Tour this Summer. However, the band will be touring in full support of their forthcoming release ‘Hope & Sorrow, Chapter VII.’ Stay tuned for more details. Please spread the word to other SEVENDUST supporters! Thanks everyone!”

Thanks Sevendust Myspace.

MORE "PAIN" FOR SWEDISH METALLERS, "PAIN".

Last week, 3 members of the band were jumped from behind & issued a beatdown with bottles, outside a bar in Leipzig, Germany, leaving the band sidelined with various injuries.

Now, this... ..........

"Here we go again. We left Frankfurt [Germany] around noon today 'cause we had to wait for a new driver first. The new driver arrived and our 200-kilometer journey towards Bamberg began. After two hours of driving with only 20 minutes to go, we got pulled over by the police who ordered us out of the bus and had us sit in a line at the sidewalk. They searched us one by one and had us remove socks and shoes for about 40 minutes while they searched the whole bus and turned all of our bags upside down. When they were finished, they came out with a camera case and asked us who it belonged to.

It contained a small plastic bag with a suspicious white powder and was owned by our new driver who, of course, claimed he never seen it before. Well... to make a long story short, we're stuck somewhere on autobahn without a driver, it's pitch black and raining outside. We're trying to enjoy ourselves [photo] watching 'Terror on Elm Street' on a laptop eating cold can food with piss-warm red wine. Another day off well spent. Everything taste better with Freddy Krueger."

Screw Germany guys... ...& come to Canada. The cops don't care about the world-class pot over here.

Thanks Pain Myspace.

"WIBUMBA--METAL & HARD ROCK TRIVIA" - MORE USELESS INFO TO IMPRESS YOUR FRIENDS.

Norwegian Black metallers, DIMMU BORGIR, started as a melodic black metal band in 1993. The initial lineup consisted of Shagrath playing drums with Tjodalv on guitar and Silenoz covering vocals, however this changed before the release of Stormblåst on Cacophonous Records in 1996. Stormblåst received high praise from many melodic black metal fans, and is often regarded as a highlight of the band's career.

Despite regular video play on MTV2 and Fuse TV that their follow-up album would receive, the band has stated that they are not "commercially-oriented, " and instead, they 'simply wish to spread their message to more people'. In 2003, Dimmu Borgir used their major record label financial leverage to record an album titled Death Cult Armageddon. Sections of the album were recorded with the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra to enhance the classical arrangements which have always augmented the band's style. In 2004, Dimmu Borgir headlined Ozzfest.

Dimmu Borgir's new album, " In Sorte Diaboli", was released April 24, 2007. This album features the drumming of Hellhammer (Mayhem), who had to leave the band in mid tour (2007) because of a neck injury, resulting in limited movement of his right arm. With the release of this album, Dimmu Borgir became the first black metal band with a number one album in their native country.

"BAND NAME ORIGINS"

GARBAGE - Band members once claimed "You have to send away and the music company gives you a choice of names. There were only two names left HOOTIE AND THE BLOWFISH and GARBAGE and we choose the better one" ..total bullshit but funny anyway.. The most common explanation is that a friend heard one of the band's early demos and said "it sounds like garbage"

BLACK CROWS - MAXIM MAG', "EATING CROW", OVER BAD REVIEW, WITHOUT HEARING ALBUM.

The BLACK CROWS lawyers musta phoned, cus...............

The Associated Press reports that Maxim magazine has apologized for publishing a negative review of the BLACK CROWES' new album by a writer who hadn't listened to the whole CD.

Maxim editorial director James Kaminsky responded Tuesday with this statement: "It is Maxim's editorial policy to assign star ratings only to those albums that have been heard in their entirety. Unfortunately, that policy was not followed in the March 2008 issue of our magazine and we apologize to our readers."

A spokeswoman for the magazine contacted by The Associated Press declined to say whether the writer would face disciplinary action.

"Warpaint", the BLACK CROWES' first album in seven years, is set for release March 4. The blues-rock group, fronted by Chris Robinson, has released only one song from the disc, "Goodbye Daughters of the Revolution".

Thanks A.Press & Blabb.

ROB ZOMBIE - RUMOURS FOR THE PLOTLINE OF NEXT MOVIE.

The Pulse of Radio reports: More information has possibly crept out about the next movie from rocker-turned-filmmaker Rob Zombie, titled "Tyrannosaurus Rex". According to Bloody-Disgusting.com, the movie is about a semi-professional wrestler named Tyrannosaurus Rex who is being pursued by a "biker gang from hell." If that is in fact the premise, it closely resembles a comic book that Zombie co-authored a few years ago, called "The Nail". Although a film version of "The Nail" was reportedly in the works at one point, nothing ever came of it.

Zombie created "The Nail" with hot horror comics writer Steve Niles, author of the graphic novel "30 Days of Night". Zombie told The Pulse of Radio at the time how the partnership began. "We got together and we're like the same age, and we sort of have the same background, you know, he was in these DC hardcore bands, and somehow we just were very similar, " he said. "So we started working together and, I don't know, it just worked. 'The Nail' is pretty ridiculous, it's sort of like ('70s biker horror film) 'Satan's Sadists' meets ('70s Peter Fonda horror movie) 'Race With The Devil'."

Zombie has not made any public announcements about "Tyrannosaurus Rex" except for the title. The film is due out on August 28, 2009 and will follow his hit 2007 remake of "Halloween".

CULT OF LUNA - SWEDISH "ART-METALLERS", HIT STUDIO FOR JUNE RELEASE.

Swedish art-rock behemoth Cult of Luna have entered Tonteknik Studios in their home town of Umea, Sweden, to record their fifth full length album.

The band have 8 songs ready to commit to tape, having spent the preceding weeks fine tuning the material that will look to build further on the success of 'Somewhere Along the Highway'.

Although the band are yet confirm the title, the album will see the band attempt to adapt their sound, welcoming a harsher and more primal element to their already complex approach.

Guitarist/vocalist Johannes Persson comments cryptically:

?As we close the doors of the Tonteknik studio and travel into unchartered musical ground, only one thing is sure: what will come out will have been born from pain and violence.?

Cult of Luna?s new album is scheduled for a June release.

Thanks The gauntlet.

OZZFEST - LATEST, NEWEST "RUMOURS".

Seems to be a new direction each day for OZZFEST. This is today's:

Ozzfest, the long-running touring metal package, is rumored to be morphing into a two-day "destination festival" in Dallas. There has been no official word yet on what format Ozzfest will take or who will be on the bill.

The rumors come in the wake of this year's arrival of the metal-oriented Rockstar Energy Mayhem Tour, which will play 30 North American amphitheaters during July and August, the time when Ozzfest is traditionally making its rounds.

Last year's Ozzfest offered free admission, with fans acquiring tickets mostly through sponsoring web sites. But the acts were not paid either, which resulted in a decidedly less than impressive main stage lineup. The Mayhem trek has already robbed Ozzfest of two potential main-stage heavyweights in DISTURBED and SLIPKNOT, with fan favorites DRAGONFORCE and MASTODON also taking part in the Mayhem tour.

OZZY OSBOURNE is likely to headline Ozzfest as a solo act again, since his BLACK SABBATH bandmates are busy with their HEAVEN AND HELL offshoot.

Thanks Blabb.

RUSH - RELEASING, "SNAKES & ARROWS LIVE", 2 CD SET.

Rush fans, this outa make your week.

PR reports: Rush have announced early details of their upcoming new album, "SNAKES & ARROWS LIVE." The 2-CD live set will arrive in stores on April 8th. Rush will simultaneously release the new live CD with another four months of concert dates. This extended schedule will see the band traveling North America through mid-July.

"SNAKES & ARROWS LIVE" was recorded last October at the Netherlands' Ahoy Rotterdam arena during the renowned rock trio's lengthy world tour, and mixed by frequent collaborator Richard ChyckI (Aerosmith, Mick Jagger). The five month trek celebrated Rush's acclaimed 2007 studio release, "SNAKES & ARROWS, " which includes the Grammy Award-nominated track, "Malignant Narcissism."

Produced by Live Nation Global Touring and SRO/Anthem, the 2008 leg of the "Snakes & Arrows Live Tour" will take off on April 11th at San Juan's Coliseo de Puerto Rico - Rush's first-ever concert appearance in Puerto Rico.

Thanks PR.

YNGWIE MALMSTEEN - VOCALIST BAILS, RUMOURED "REPLACEMENT", NAMED.

The Swedish guitar superstar (with a reported temper), is looking for a vocalist.

Vocalist Doogie White and Yngwie Malmsteen have decided to part company after six and a half years together. Doogie joined Malmsteen's band in September 2001 and recorded two albums with the legendary Swedish guitarist: "Attack" (2002) and "Unleash the Fury" (2005).

"I had a long chat with Yngwie today and it is clear that he wants to move musically in a new direction, " Doogie said in a statement that was released to BLABBERMOUTH.NET earlier today. "It's great news that he will be expanding on his undoubted talents both as a writer and guitarist. I just want to thank, publicly, Yngwie and the many band members past and present that I have worked with. It seems appropriate that we started our working relationship in South America in September 2001 and finished in South America in December 2007. Now, anyone need a singer??"

The "rumoured replacement"?? None other than , tim "Ripper" Owens.(Iced Earth/Judas Priest).

Awww, man..........Ripper has an industry rep', as a real down to earth guy.

Malmsteen has one as a spoiled tempermental diva..................

Ripper deserves better than this.

Thanks Blabb.

"WIBUMBA--METAL & HARD ROCK TRIVIA" - MORE USELESS INFO TO IMPRESS YOUR FRIENDS.

RAMMSTEIN: Rammstein was started by Richard Z. Kruspe. In 1989 he escaped from East Germany over the border between Austria and Hungary. He eventually ended up in West Berlin and started a band in 1993 (Orgasm Death Gimmicks). After the Berlin wall came down, he moved back home to Schwerin where Till Lindemann worked as a basket weaver and played drums in the band First Arsch (First Arse).

Richard soon found it extremely difficult to write both music and lyrics at the same time, so he got Lindemann to join Rammstein. Richard first discovered Till when he overheard him singing while he was weaving baskets.

A contest was held in Berlin for amateur bands in 1994, and the winner would receive the opportunity to record a four track demo CD in a professional studio. Kruspe, Schneider, Riedel, and Lindemann won the contest, and sparked the attention of Paul Landers, who wanted in on the project as upon hearing their demo. At this point, all Rammstein needed to complete their machine-sound was a keyboarder. Rammstein then attempted to recruit Christian Lorenz, who had played with Landers in Feeling B. At first, Flake was not entirely thrilled with the idea: however, after much discussion, he eventually agreed.

1980 - Rob Partridge and Bill Stewart from Island Records in the UK offered the band U2 a recording contract after seeing them play at Dublin's National Boxing Stadium in front of 2,400 people.

1978 - During a court case between The Sex Pistols and their manager Malcolm McLaren it was revealed that only £30,000 ($51,000) was left of the £800,000 ($1,360,000) the band had earned.

"PAIN", ON LEIPZIG ASSAULT - "WHAT HAPPENED HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH GERMANY".

Check out yesterday's news for a photo of Peter Tagtgrens injuries.

Swedish metallers PAIN — whose members Peter Tägtgren (guitar/vocals), Johan Husgafvel (bass) and David Wallin (drums) were assaulted Friday night (February 22) in Leipzig, Germany during a day off on the band's European tour as the support act for NIGHTWISH — have issued this update:

"First of all, this is the last [statement] that will mention last Friday's mishap. We've got a lot of messages and read tons of comments on the Internet. Some good, some bad. And we would like to point out that what happened has nothing to do with Germany. These fuckers that jumped us exist in every country. We were just at the wrong place in the wrong time. We never spoke to them so they couldn't have known that we were from another country.

Right now we're just glad that things went so 'well' so that we can continue the tour. If we would have been sober or if we would have known that they were coming I'm sure that I wouldn't have been able to write this [message] right now. Thanks for all your nice coments, but as I wrote before this is behind us and now it's just almost full speed ahead. Everything tastes better with stitches!

Thanks Pain Myspace.

WALLS OF JERICHO - DROPPING OFF TOUR, DUE TO "LACK OF FUNDING".

It's sad, but the truth is, labels pull the strings when you've signed on the dotted line.

Besides, Devildriver should have stonger support than this bunch.

WALLS OF JERICHO have posted the following update:

“We can honestly say that it is a huge disappointment on our end. This has been a tour that we have been extremely excited about and looking forward to for several months and to back out was very tough for us. However our label (Trustkill Records) has decided to pull tour support funding for this tour as they feel finishing our next record is the number one priority. Our management and label both feel that we need to be writing our new record in preparation for a spring recording and with this tour we just don’t have enough time to accomplish all things. With that said the decision has been handed down and we are forced to cancel.

However, this will ensure a summer/late summer release for our new as yet untitled full-length record which we have been working very hard on as of late and should turn out to be nothing short of incredible. The extra time devoted to this record is going to pay off big time and we should be able to come out with a record we can truely be proud of and excited about. We would like to apologize to all the bands on this tour for pulling out so late and we would like to also apologize to all the people who were looking forward to seeing us in the next few weeks.”

Thanks Metal Underground.

"MAXIM" MAG' BUSTED - FOR REVIEWING "BLACK CROWS ALBUM, WITHOUT HEARING IT"!!

What do expect from a 'piece o' shit trash' publication like Maxim anyhow?

In a case like this... ......I hope The Black Crows take some sort of legal avenue. Cus' the rest of us have to wait 'till we can get our grubby hands on a bands new release BEFORE we can review it.

antiMusic reports: It appears that fake music reviews go hand in hand with fake porn. Who knew? Apparently Maxim Magazine got caught writing a CD review for an album they never heard and then tried to justify it by explaining that they just wished to cover a big release and having not heard it didn't really matter. They made an educated guess! Here is what the Black Crowes had to say about the whole mess: How is it that a magazine can review an entire album--and assign a star rating to it--without actually hearing the album?

Case in point: the "review" of Warpaint--the new album by THE BLACK CROWES--in the March issue of Maxim magazine. The writer--who has not heard the album since advance CDs were not made available--wrote what appears to be a disparaging assessment anyway, citing "it hasn't left Chris Robinson and the gang much room for growth."

Incredulously, the magazine gave the album a two and a half star rating--although neither the writer nor the editor could have heard more than one song (the single "Goodbye Daughters of the Revolution"). When approached for an explanation, the magazine described the review as "an educated guess preview." Huh?

Thanks Antimusic.

TYPE O NEGATIVES, JOSH SILVER - ON "THE DEATH OF THE RECORD INDUSTRY".

Coming off a wee bit bitter, is Josh Silver. keyboardist/producer, for Brooklyn's TYPE O NEGATIVE.

Questions about file-sharing will always be good for rant... & here he goes:

Metal Israel: What do you think about the music industry now? The downfall.

Josh: It's fallen! It's over! There is no music industry anymore. Everybody's firing their record company staff…producer Bob Ezrin, of small bands like PINK FLOYD, KISS… gigantic, gigantic… very talented man- he said that if you're waiting for the funeral of the music industry, don't bother waiting, it's already happened. People aren't buying downloads…

Metal Israel: They're swiping it.

Josh: So there's no outlets left, at least temporarily, until someone comes up with a better idea, but I don't think they're going to, is touring and t-shirts. And then on top of it people start bitching that your t-shirts cost too much. So I think that people want us to send them a t-shirt every time they download our stuff for free. And then an iron-on patch, so they can iron it onto their t-shirt thing every time they download. It's just making it very hard to be an artist and to support yourself. In my opinion you're going to see less and less quality music because the people that are going to be doing it are people that are willing to do it as a hobby which means you can't put as much time into it.

You know, if I could sit there and support my family and worry about making a TYPE O record every three years in a row which is what I've been doing for the past twenty years and really put in 1 billion percent into every single thing we do and sit there for thousands of hours, to me, you get a much better product than a bunch of people that are going to do it for free and live in their mother's basement and go have to work jobs in between to support their families. They just won't have enough time. But it is what it is. We're here. People have heard me complain endlessly about downloading. It's not gonna change. I know that. And that's it. And mp3s sound like shit.

Thanks Metal Israel.

"AS I LAY DYING" GUITARIST - HIT IN HEAD WITH A BOTTLE, DURING AUSSIE' SHOW.

More dickheads are coming out of the ground... .....now that spring is here.

Guitarist Nick Hipa of the San Diego-based metallers AS I LAY DYING has issued the following update:

"So [Sunday] night [February 24] [during AS I LAY DYING's performance at the Sydney stop of Australia's Soundwave festival] I got hit in the head by an empty glass Maker's Mark bottle. While it did stun and disorient me, I am completely fine. Lucky for me the bottle was huge so it didn't break and I have no need for stitches. I'm sorry we had to stop our set but I was quite discombobulated for a good while, and more importantly the EMT dude wouldn't let me play because my head was bleeding quite a bit... or some sort of mumbo jumbo like that. I am happy to say that aside from having a bulbous lump and cut on top of my skull, I'm in good health and feeling like a gladiator. Thank you to everyone who has been expressing concern though, I really appreciate it."

Very rough fan-filmed video footage of the bottle-throwing incident can be viewed HERE

"WIBUMBA--METAL & HARD ROCK TRIVIA" - MORE USELESS INFO TO IMPRESS YOUR FRIENDS.

MISFITS are a punk rock band formed in 1977 and led by singer and songwriter Glenn Danzig and bassist Jerry Only. Danzig disbanded the Misfits in 1983. When the band originally reformed, it featured Michale Graves on vocals, Jerry Only on bass, Dr. Chud (Cannibalistic Human Underground Drummer) on drums, and Jerry's brother Doyle on guitar. Doyle is currently estranged from the group and is working with a new group named Gorgeous Frankenstein, which formed in 2005.

In 98', the Misfits were then briefly fronted by lead singer Myke Hideous of the New Jersey goth/deathrock band, The Empire Hideous, during their subsequent South American and European tour. Hideous was purportedly forced out by Jerry and Doyle for an unwillingness to "pump up" by lifting weights and left the band after the European tour.

The Misfits performed three weeks of UK and Irish dates in September-October 2007 to celebrate their 30th anniversary. Special guests at most shows were The Briefs. At certain shows the Misfits were joined by guest vocalist Jamie Delerict of Irish band The Dangerfields, who sang I Turned Into A Martian.

As of June 25th, the new Misfits website has been launched, giving a list of tour dates, and confirming a US tour this fall, with dates now posted on their official website.

"BAND NAME ORIGINS"

FU MANCHU - This stoner rock band named themselves after the character FU-MANCHU. He first appeared in "The Insidious Dr. Fu-Manchu" by Sax Rohmer (pseudonym for Arthur Sarsfield Ward), then in a series of movies.

GODSMACK - Couple stories here: most say it derived from a joke about one band member making fun of another's cold sore. The next day he had a cold sore too, so he got GODSMACKED.. as in "hit by karma"... There is an ALICE IN CHAINS song called GODSMACK, which some say inspired the band's name.

"WIBUMBA--ALMANAC" - CAUSE SHIT HAPPENS ALL YEAR, EVERY YEAR.

"ON THIS DAY"

2004 - The Rolling Stones topped a US Rich List of music's biggest money makers. The list was based on earnings during 2003 when the band played their "Forty Licks" tour, which made them $212 million, (£124.7m) in ticket, CD, DVD and merchandise sales. Bruce Springsteen came in second place and The Eagles, third.

1999 - Prince filed a copyright and trademark infringement lawsuit against nine Web sites, with allegations that included selling bootlegged recordings and offering unauthorized song downloads. (NOTE: He just tried to sue 'Pirate Bay'-Sweden for the same thing again)

"BORN"

1979: Andres.(guitar- Ecthalion)

1973: Paul Michael Stewart (bass - Circle II Circle)

1959: Mike Peters (lead singer: The Alarm)

1957: Dennis Diken (drums - The Smithereens)

1993: Toy Caldwell (45) US guitar player with the Marshall Tucker Band between 1973 and 1983. He later formed the Toy Caldwell Band and released an eponymous CD in 1992: the record was later renamed Son of the South his personal friend, Charlie Daniels (died of heart disease

FILTER - "ANTHEMS FOR THE DAMNED", MAY 13TH RELEASE SET.

The reactivated FILTER has set a May 13 release date for its new album, entitled "Anthems For The Damned". Produced by Josh Abraham (SLAYER, 30 SECONDS TO MARS, VELVET REVOLVER, STAIND, COURTNEY LOVE), the album's first single "Soldiers of Misfortune" will be released mid-March. Patrick describes the soaring anthem — with its U2/BOWIE flavor and stacked backdrop of buzzing electric guitars — as a "sardonic anti-war/pro-troops song." The first-person narrative was inspired by a letter from a FILTER fan who had enlisted in the Army reserves to get his college tuition paid: in his final year of college, he was shipped off to Iraq where he died from a rocket attack and small arms fire after just a few days of duty.

"Anthems For The Damned" features such collaborators as guitarist/songwriter John 5, guitarist Wes Borland and drummer Josh Freese and marks FILTER's first release in five years since "The Amalgamut".

Thanks Blabb.

ASCENSION OF THE WATCHERS - MORE "GHOST STORIES" FROM THE MAKING OF "NUMINOSUM".

(ex-?) Fear factory frontman, Burton C, Bell recently sat down with The Gauntlet to talk about the making of his new bands debut disc, "Numinosum". On Feb' 08th, we posted the first part of the conversation, where he related how some "uninvited guests" (ghosts?) have appeared on the chorus of the track" Mars Becoming"

Here, Burton talks about another encounter he had while recording in El Paso, at Al Jourgenson's (Ministry) home:

"Another story of a ghost-like experience was while recording the album in El Paso. I was having trouble sleeping for a week. I was staying at the Jourgensen’s house. The house is very goth-punk and very sheik. Lot’s of Elvis and Marilyn Monroe and artwork all over the house. The room I was in was different. It was gold and had a ton of pictures of crucifix’s and Mary Magdalene on the wall. I didn’t think anything of it, but I was having trouble sleeping for about a week. One night, I was just really having trouble and I was just in and out of sleep. I was looking at the wall in the dark and all the sudden I had this feeling of terror. I was having problems breathing and was just in this state of terror.

Something was there. For some reason in my head, I just started saying some girls’ name. I don’t remember the name I was saying. Then all of the sudden, it was loud and crystal clear like someone was shouting it in my ear, “No, I’m Gina.” I woke up. Someone was right there. I jumped up in bed and looked around trying to see in the darkness and there was nothing there. I laid awake for a few more moments and then went back to sleep. In the morning, I got up and Angie and AL Jourgensen were in the living room. I said to Angie, “So Angie, do you have any idea if my room is haunted or is this house haunted?” Right when I asked that, Al said “Hell no, this house isn’t haunted!” Angie said “Well, your room is.” I told her my story and she said that the previous owners had a daughter who was killed in a date rape. Her name was Angelic, but everyone called her Gina. I went back to the room and made peace and came to an understanding with her. I told her I just wanted to sleep there and I’d give her some space. That was the only thing that happened."

The Gauntlet: Paul Raven contributed some bass lines to the album.

Burton: "He played bass on “Mars Becoming”. He was supposed to play bass on “Sounds of Silence” but never had the chance. It was very sad, very sad. His bass parts are the best on the record. The bass line he came up with was amazing. His Mob Research stuff is really good. They might put it out. He was a genius with the bass. He was in one of the most killer bands ever."

Go to the "WIBUMBA-ARCHIVE" for samples of the Numinosum album.

Thanks The Gauntlet.

EX - KORN GUITARIST, "HEAD" - TO PERFORM AT "CORNERSTONE FESTIVAL".

Kornzone.pl reports that former KORN guitarist Brian "Head" Welch will perform at this summer's Cornerstone Festival, set to take place June 30 – July 5 in Bushnell, Illinois.

According to the festival's web site, Welch will make an appearance on one of the festival's side stages on the event's closing day, Saturday, July 5.

Since leaving KORN in 2005, Welch has been working on his debut solo album, tentatively titled "It's Time to See Religion Die", but has yet to set an official release date for the CD.

In a recent interview with the "Life Today" television show, Welch reportedly said that he is "almost done mixing" the album, but is waiting " God to tell him the right time to release it".

(RANK - "in case you didn't know, God drives a caddie, smokes cubans, wears Hugo Boss & is the A&R man for christian Rock")

"It's Time to See Religion Die" was recorded at Fortitude Studios in Phoenix, Arizona with the help of drummer Josh Freese (A PERFECT CIRCLE, NINE INCH NAILS) and bassist Trevor Dunn (MR. BUNGLE, FANTOMAS).

Welch departed KORN in February of 2005 to devote his life to Christianity and spend more time with his daughter. The band has not permanently replaced him, using touring and session guitarists instead.

THE OFFSPRING - ALBUM & BAND UPDATE.

Recently american punk rock band The Offspring have posted two videos of recording studio album. Short clips contain one of the new The Offspring songs, which sounds really cool. Still the premiere date is not announced, but we're expecting this album in the first quarter of 2008. You can check out videos on Youtube. Meanwhile, (if you live in a cave & haven't heard) Pete Parada has been chosen to be The Offspring‘s new drummer. Pete is a killer drummer and has spent time in Saves The Day, Face to Face, and Alkaline Trio.

In the meantime, The Offspring are continuing to put the finishing touches on a new album, no release date yet. Josh Freese (NIN, Vandals, Devo) has recorded all the drum tracks for the new record.

Atom Willard is now focusing full time on his band, Angels & Airwaves, and remains a friend of the band.

The band is slated to appear at the UK's "Download festival", June 14th/08.

PAIN - BAND MEDICAL CONDITION UPDATE.

We reported that 3 members of Swedish Mettalers PAIN, were jumped after leaving a bar in Leipzig, Germany, a couple of days ago. Frontman, Peter Tagtgren (pictured left) sustained 10 stitches & a black eye.

Drummer dave Wallin has an update on the rest of the band:

Commented Wallin: "We arrived here [in Leipzig] yesterday and three of us spent the evening of our day off at some local bars. When we had enough we walked out on the street to find a taxI back to the bus and three assholes decided to kick us down and hit me in the head with a wine bottle. Some guy who recognized us helped us in his car to a nearby hospital. Peter's got a really black eye and was given 10 stitches on his cheek. I have a concussion, eight stitches on the side of my head and glass in my hands. Johan has a broken nose and bruses all over. We're really sorry for canceling tonight's show but it just wasn't possible. We're gonna do our best to get back in the saddle again and continue the tour without further interruption. Everything tastes better with blood in your mouth."

We wish the band a quick recovery.

"WIBUMBA METAL & HARD ROCK TRIVIA" - MORE USELESS INFO TO IMPRESS YOUR FRIENDS.

DEFTONES, vocalist/back-up guitarist, Chino Moreno (born Camillo Wong Moreno June 20, 1973) was born in Sacramento, California to a Mexican father and a Mexican/Irish/Native American/Chinese mother. He was the third of five children. The Deftones were quite close with the stepson of Max Cavalera of Sepultura and Soulfly, Dana Wells, and when he died, Chino Moreno was one of the pallbearers at his funeral.

In relation to his often ambiguous yet image-heavy poetic lyrics, Moreno quotes: "[Sometimes] my lyrics don't deal with specific topics. I write down on paper the feelings of the moment, it's not easy to explain the contents of the lyrics or give a logical sense to the words. What I write is also a reaction to the music we make, so the Deftones' sound is not pop, it doesn't communicate happy feelings. In 06', the band released "Saturday Night Wrist". The band are recording, starting March. Later this year, the album "Eros", is expected to hit shelves.

APOCALYPTICA - US TOUR DATES BUILDING.

These shows could turn out VERY interesting... .....should some of the guests decide to show up.

The "Worlds Collide" album featured: guest appearances by Corey Taylor (SLIPKNOT, STONE SOUR), Till Lindemann (RAMMSTEIN), Cristina Scabbia (LACUNA COIL), Dave Lombardo (SLAYER), and Adam Gontier (THREE DAYS GRACE).

According to Ticketmaster.com, Finnish metal cellists APOCALYPTICA have scheduled the following U.S. dates:

Apr. 27 - Chicago, IL @ House of Blues
May 12 - Dallas, TX @ House of Blues

More shows will be announced soon.

As previously reported, APOCALYPTICA has had the U.S. release date of its new album, "Worlds Collide", pushed back once again — this time to April 15. The CD, which entered the Finnish chart at position No. 8 and also landed on both the German and Swiss charts at No. 10, was made available in standard and "deluxe" versions, the latter of which is described as "truly a work of art both in its artwork and its content." JUDAS PRIEST'S "K.K DOWNING" - ALBUM & TOUR UPDATE.

With "Nostradamus", ready to be unleashed on the world, JUDAS PRIEST fans are lapping up any news they can get as to how the release is coming along,

Guitarist KK Downing sends an update this weekend:

Downing: "We will soon be on tour playing songs that many people have been waiting for and also we will be including some tasters from 'Nostradamus'. If all goes well I think it would be pretty cool to do a tour later performing the whole concept album."

Q: How much do you rehearse before a tour? Do you determine the set list before the start of the rehearsals, or do you rehearse a number of songs and compose a set list out of those songs? As I understand (conclusions drawn from various interviews) you're about to play whole of (and nothing but) the new album on the upcoming summer tour. Are you going to perform a new tour with JUDAS PRIEST classics after the "Nostradamus" tour?

Downing: "We try not to over-rehearse so as to keep things fresh, we usually decide on the bulk of the songs before hand but if someone makes a suggestion we will give it a go. For the moment we are planning to tour with classics but with some 'Nostradamus', then possibly tour again playing the entire 'Nostradamus' spectacle."

Q: Do you feel that in the present information society, people require to have new information as soon as possible? With Internet you can present every single step taken forward in the progress of writing a new album. I get the impression that you (JUDAS PRIEST) go the other way: you reveal almost nothing about what's happening. Other bands present almost every step that they make, put new songs onto the web etc. I can't say that it's wrong to be very secret, but it's a contrast to the enormous possibility to present information.

Downing: "Yes, maybe a lot of bands think that doing it that way they get more exposure but I prefer to do it the old way because I remember the excitement that I had when rushing to the store to buy a record that I had been waiting so eagerly for and playing it for the first time. It was such a rush, by giving people updates nearly every day somehow takes the excitement away for me. Also just making the record takes us more hours in the day than we have."

Thanks KK Downing .net

PAIN - BAND "JUMPED" OUTSIDE BAR IN GERMANY & INJURED.

More assholes reveal themselves... .this time in Germany, where Swedish Metallers, PAIN, were jumped from behind by some douche-bags.

Here's the bands update:

PAIN touring guitarist Marcus Jidell (ROYAL HUNT, HOUSE OF SHAKIRA) has issued the following update from the band's current European as the support act for NIGHTWISH:

"We had to cancel the gig tonight in Leipzig [Germany] while some crazy assholes kicked Peter [Tägtgren, guitar/vocals], Johan [Husgafvel, bass] and David [Wallin, drums] down when they where on their way home from a local bar yesterday. They just came from behind so there was nothing they could do. I was in the bus watching a movie so I am totally OK besides the fact that we had to cancel. It feels really shitty to cancel but there was no way we could play today. I hope we will be able to be on stage tomorrow but I am not sure. But the guys are in a good mood and are working on recovering as soon as possible. Today we will sleep in a hotel and I'll try to make our heroes feel a little bit better."

PAIN has launched a tour blog where the bandmembers promise to "keep you updated with news and share whatever happens during the tour. Everything you read or see on this blog is exclusively uncensored. Similarities with now living persons is total coincidence."

SUM 41 - ON TOURBUS CO'S, "BLACK-LIST".

Serves them right... ......

Rockstars trashing rooms, buses, etc, is 70's old stuff. So if SUM 41 has to ride around in a piece of shit bus, they've got no one to blame, 'xept themselves.

An American tourbus company has banned Sum 41 from hiring any more of their luxurious on-the-road vehicles after the Canadian rockers trashed the last one they used.

The "Fat Lip" punks have been forced to tour in a cockroach-infested bus for years - because the reputable companies won't allow the wild rockers to step foot inside their prized motor homes.

Drummer Steve Jocz, "We destroyed one so thoroughly we're not allowed to use the company again. This is how stupid we are - there's one bus company in Canada that we've had to use for years: they've had cockroaches. Nothing works. They're crap."

(RANK - "stupid"? c'mon guys & give yourselves more credit than that. How about k@#kin' retarded?"

BUCKCHERRY - CRAZY "UNDERAGED" BITCH. LAWSUIT SETTLED.

"Coerced"..........yeah uh, ok.

According to The Pulse of Radio, BUCKCHERRY has settled a lawsuit filed in 2006 by the mother of a teenage girl who appeared topless in the "unrated" version of the video for the band's single "Crazy Bitch". The suit claimed that the girl, who was 16 years old at the time, was "coerced" into drinking alcohol and taking off her clothes during the shoot, while the band argued that the girl had provided fake proof of age. Terms of the settlement were not disclosed.

In an October 2006 interview with Launch Radio Networks, BUCKCHERRY vocalist Joshua Todd was confident that the case would go in their favor. "Alls we can say about that is that the lawsuit has no merit and we're just working through it with our attorney and the truth will come out at some point, and right now we can't really talk about it, " he said. "It's unfortunate that people do that type of stuff, you know. They're just out to extort money from people, you know. I'm not saying that that's the situation that's going on, but you know what I mean."

A new video for "Crazy Bitch" was subsuquently filmed.

LOSER PLEADS GUILTY - FOR MAKING "DEATH THREATS AGAINST KORN".

Thinking of going over the top on a forum with your hatred for a particular band?

THIS could be you next. Check it out:

Metal Underground reports: A Sacramento man has pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court to making threats over the Internet ("Metal Underground.Com") to kill members of the rock band KORN, according to federal prosecutors.

Adrian McCoy, 23, entered the guilty plea in United States District Court in Sacramento Friday to a single count of making interstate threats to injure another, U.S. Attorney Michelle Rodriguez said.

According to investigators, McCoy sent threatening communications to the FBI's Web site in September 2007. In the email, McCoy threatened to kill members of the band, the band's family and FBI agents who responded to his acts of violence, Rodriguez said.

FOO FIGHTERS - SUE MARVEL COMICS FOR "COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT".

antiMusic reports: The X-men have finally found their match! It's the Foo Fighter's lawyers. E! has the story: The Dave Grohl-fronted foursome sued Marvel Studios for copyright infringement Wednesday, accusing the production arm of the famed comic book empire of using two of their songs for a TV trailer without the band's permission.

Per the lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, "substantial excerpts" of the tunes "Best of You" and "Free Me, " both off the 2005 album In Your Honor, were used in a teaser for the upcoming animated series Wolverine and the X-Men.

The song samples "were copied directly from the Foo Fighters' sound recordings of those two songs" and people can watch the trailer online, the suit alleges.

ADEMA - STATUS UPDATE & "THE NEWS AIN'T GOOD."

Here's an act that's been plagued constantly by (almost) daily line-up changes, poor management, poor show sales & most importantly... ..second-rate music. Yet, like a bad dose of goneherea, they won't go away.

Here's the band:

"It's been a little while since we've posted an update, and I want to apologize to all our fans in the ADEMA militia that have been patiently awaiting an update from us.

"We love you, and we appreciate all the friends we've made over the course of the last several months touring in support of our latest, 'Kill The Headlights' — and the continued support we receive from our familia over the last 8 years that we've been a band.

"We're starting fresh, and getting a whole new team over here in ADEMA-land! The band is cool: we just need a new crew (a new 'supporting cast,' if you will). We recently parted ways with our longtime manager, as well as our accountants/business management shortly before the end of last year.

So what have we been up too, you ask?

"ADEMA is alive and well, but we are taking a break (I guess you could say we are on 'hiatus' right now…lol) I've never been entirely sure what that term meant, because we've always been so busy, we've never even had an opportunity to stop and 'smell the roses' or to make sure that we were always making the best decisions, but hey — it's life, ya know? Sometimes, you just keep the ball moving, whether you agree with the direction the ship is heading or not, you hand it off and let somebody else steer for awhile…

Thanks Adema Myspace.

TOM MORELLO - NO RECORDING FOR"RAGE", BUT MORE "NIGHTWATCHMAN", ON IT'S WAY.

Not exactly what I was hoping to hear..............

But at least Rage Against The Machine are still standing the sight of each other... and that means theres hope for a new album... ..however small it may be.

Morello told The Pulse of Radio that he's already finished his second NIGHTWATCHMAN CD. "The working title is 'The Fabled City', and it's pretty damn rocking, " he said. "Over the course of the last year, you know, playing hundred-some shows, I think I've grown as a performer, and there's a certain amount of energy and electricity to those acoustic shows that I tried to translate to the record, and it's definitely a more high-energy affair. And there's actually one or two guitar solos may have crept their way in, as well as a riff or two."

Morello did not give a release date for "The Fabled City", although he said he expects it to come out later this year. His first NIGHTWATCHMAN record, "One Man Revolution", arrived last April.

RIAA LINKS - "MUSIC PIRACY TO TERRORISM".

These people have got the devil in em'!!!

antiMusic reports: Hey did you know that there are links between people who profit from pirated music and people who deal weapons, populate terror cells, and murder their fellow man for sport? You didn't? You must have missed the RIAA video.

Check out the video HERE

Idolator Yesterday the RIAA-produced video In Trial, which covers the societal dangers of music piracy, made its way out to torrent sites, and among its contents are instructions on how to get RIAA investigators qualified as expert witnesses, a guide to identifying pirated CDs, and the bit [at the full story link], about the links between people who profit from pirated music and people who deal weapons, populate terror cells, and murder their fellow man for sport.

Surely I'm not the only person who thinks that this particular bit on the "kill 'em all" impulses of miscreants dealing in fifth-generation copies of Graduation would hit home a little more effectively if it were accompanied by a bangin' soundtrack?

TIAMAT'S, Johan Edlund (b. March 9, 1971) is a Swedish singer, guitarist and keyboardist who is the leader of the bands Tiamat and Lucyfire. He has also done remixes for some of Rammstein's and London After Midnight's songs. He was also a guest singer in the Dutch progressive metal project, Ayreon. In the beginning of his career, Edlund relied solely on death grunts for singing but later switched to deep, baritone vocals, likely due to the fact that Tiamat underwent a significant genre transition in the middle of the 1990s.

LINKIN PARK STALKER - SENTENCED FOR EXTREMELY "BAD TASTE" IN CELEBRITY STALKING. (joking)

Know this: THIS IS NOT the Devin Townsend from Strapping Young Lad!!

The Associated Press reports that a woman who stalked LINKIN PARK lead singer Chester Bennington was sentenced Wednesday to two years in prison for using her work computer at Sandia National Laboratories to track and harass him and his wife.

Devon Townsend has 60 days to surrender to a minimum-security prison in Phoenix, where she is expected to receive mental health care. She had pleaded guilty to stalking and other counts.

Townsend, who worked in Sandia's technology and manufacturing group, used lab computers to illegally access private information about Bennington and his wife, Talinda, in 2006.

According to a plea agreement, Townsend said she obtained family photos, monitored voice messages and traveled to Arizona to meet Bennington, using information she learned about his travel plans. She also obtained correspondence between Warner Bros. Records and LINKIN PARK's business attorney, including a copy of a check made to Bennington from the record company and a copy of the band's recording contract.

Investigators said Townsend also hacked into the e-mail of Bennington's wife and at one point called the former Playboy model and threatened her.

"MUNKY LIKES KORN"! - SAYS HE'S COMING BACK TO BAND.

Hell, I thought for sure "Head" had polutted Munky's brain with religion. Appears I might've been hasty in my theory.

Korn star James 'Munky' Shaffer is set to rejoin the rockers on tour in Italy after "personal and family reasons" forced him to head home to America last month. The guitarist has announced he'll be back on stage with Korn for the band's Milan show on Saturday.

Shaffer has yet to fully explain his reasons for quitting the tour, but in a posting on his MySpace.com website last month, the rocker cryptically wrote: "If you want to better understand my departure, then listen to the words in the song Watching The Wheels by John Lennon."

Korn frontman Jonathan Davis greeted his guitarist's departure by stating, "We fully support Munky's need to be home right now."

"LAYNE STAYLEY MOVIE" STAR - HAS INCREDIBLE "STALEY LIKENESS & SOUND"!!

The likeness is eerie.............

And the dude LATHAN MCKAY, sounds just like him also.

Jerry Cantrell are you hearing this? Tell Duvall to hit the road & sign this guy up!!

Lathan McKay, the actor who will play late ALICE IN CHAINS singer Layne Staley in the upcoming movie "Get Born Again" — based on the biography of Layne Staley by Argentinean journalist/author Adriana Rubio — recently met with Rubio and they spent 10 days together working on the movie project. A local rock band, MOTHERWEISER, played numerous ALICE IN CHAINS songs to assist Lathan in his vocal performance and character development. When Lathan took to the microphone, Staley's presence "was definitely felt and acknowledged by everyone in the room, " according to a press release.

McKay shares an incredible likeness to Layne Staley, and has an inner ability to channel Layne's energy.

Lathan has a tremendous respect for Layne Staley and Jerry Cantrell's music, and is very passionate about the opportunity to portray Layne as the beautiful, talented soul that he was.

Lathan McKay was born on January 10, 1978 in Austin, TX. He started his acting career a few years ago landing one of the lead roles in a coming of age story set in suburban Texas, premiering at 2003 Tribeca Film Festival.
