News Slab: Prime news cuts from the metal and rock worldMETALLICA - ISSUE UPDATE ON "RE-ISSUES".
METALLICA's official web site has been updated with the following message: Thanks Blabb. MESHUGGAH - "oBZEN E-CARD" LINK AVAILABLE HERE!!
Click HERE to catch an E-card from Swedish Math- Metallers Meshuggah. "oBZEN", Due in North America on March 11 via Nuclear Blast Records, the follow-up to 2005's "Catch Thirty Three" contains nine songs and has a running time of around 55 minutes. MESHUGGAH was recently interviewed by Paolo Bianco of the Italian magazine Metal Shock about "obZen". The band explained both the album title (described as a play on words "obscene" and "zen"), and the CD cover (depicting a man meditating in the "zen lotus" position while covered in blood, explained as a metaphor for mankind finding peace of mind through acting obscene). MESHUGGAH will support MINISTRY on the North American leg of "C U LaTouR" beginning on March 26 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Also appearing on the bill is HEMLOCK. Thanks Blabb. EDDIE VAN HALEN - OFF THE WAGON & BACK IN REHAB?? Maybe Ace Frehley can mentor Eddie... .......... So far, it sounds like Frehley is having more success staying OFF the Sauce, than old Edward Van Pisstank. According to Pr-inside.com, sources tell the National Enquirer, 53-year-old VAN HALEN checked himself into a clinic near San Antonio, Texas, so he could detox for a week after a furious backstage bust-up in Florida with his 17-year-old son and bandmate Wolfgang. An insider says, "It was the big what-if of the tour - whether Eddie could stay sober. "Wolf hates it when his dad drinks. He knew Eddie was drunk onstage that night, and was acting cold to him, which set Eddie off. Eddie went beserk and started yanking guitar cables from the pedal boards and throwing cigarettes around onstage. "At the end of the concert, Eddie was so mad at Wolf, he punched the amp speaker, knocking it over." Van Halen enjoyed a stint in rehab last year (2007), which delayed plans for the comeback tour. Thanks Metal Underground. GOD FORBID - INTO THE STUDIO FOR A NEW DISC!
I really doubt these guys can top their last amazing offering, "Constitution Of Treason", but this should be interesting to see what they can pull out of their sleeves this time: PR reports: New Jersey's metal titans God Forbid entered the studio this week with longtime producer Eric Rachel (Atreyu, The Dillinger Escape Plan) to begin tracking their new full-length album. This new effort is the follow up to the group's most successful offering yet, IV: The Constitution Of Treason, and the depth and diversity on this disc is easily going to position the band as of one the most innovative bands within the genre. This is an entirely new God Forbid that have matured beyond their years and are now more focused than ever before. Doc Coyle (guitars, vocals) states: "Here we are! We have begun recording the new GOD FORBID album at Trax East in South River, NJ with Eric Rachel. Everyone in the band is really focused on this record and super excited about the songs. We did a very in depth pre-production for the last 2 weeks, where a lot of kinks have been worked out. There is more preparation for this album and any previous one. We have to give serious thanks to Steve Lagudi, who brought an entire studio to John's house to record pre-pro, and busted his ass engineering and tracking for two weeks. The material is varied and challenging, and I definitely feel another shift in the trajectory of our sound. We will be doing a studio blog keeping everyone posted about the progress, and also video taping as much as possible." Thanks PR. ZIMMERS HOLE - E-CARD LINK FOR "SHOOTING/SATAN" AVAILABLE HERE!!

ZIMMERS HOLE: is a humorous thrash/speed metal band from Vancouver, Canada. It includes Byron Stroud and Jed Simon from Strapping Young Lad. Zimmer's Hole was a local band as early as 1994, with their first studio album being 'Bound By Fire' in 1997 (re-issued on Century Media in 2003). Vocalist Chris Valagao also provides backing vocals on mostly every Devin Townsend solo release. As of 2008, Gene Hoglan has replaced former drummer Steve Wheeler. In 2001, when Strapping Young Lad was done touring, Jed and Byron got Devin Townsend to produce their second album Legion of Flames, released on his label Hevy Devy Records. On March 11th 2008, Zimmer's Hole will release their third album "When You Were Shouting at the Devil...We Were in League With Satan". A live concert DVD was in the works, but it is questionable if it will ever be released (the concert itself dating back to 2003).

RAZED IN BLACK: In 1994, electronic composer ROMELL REGULACION deviated from his synth-pop outfit RIME progressing to a more aggressive and intense nature - meshing hard-edged electronics, pulsating rhythms, heavy guitars, and screaming vocals. The new project, formerly known as LOST SOULS, caught the eye of LA's gothic-industrial mecca CLEOPATRA RECORDS who signed Lost Souls as RAZED IN BLACK after a discovery of bands with the same name. Since then, RAZED IN BLACK's popularity has grown tremendously as its worldwide exposure continues. Currently, RAZED IN BLACK has released five solo records and have appeared as a remixer, producer, or guest artist on more than a hundred albums. Notable high profile albums include providing remixes for Berlin, Information Society, Bowowow, Switchblade Symphony, Gary Numan, and more: as well as contributing to tribute compilations to such artists as Depeche Mode, The Cure, Metallica, Skinny Puppy, and more. RAZED IN BLACK's most recent offering, ‘DAMAGED,' has created quite an impact since its release. A pristine amalgamation of industrial, Goth, trance, synthpop, and metal, encompassed with the heart-clenching emotions delivered only the way Romell Regulacion could. ‘DAMAGED’ is definitely his best work to date, taking electronic music to the next level.

Thanks Antimusic. NIN - "GHOSTS I - IV", RELEASED VIA "NIN.COM". (LINK HERE.)
Nine Inch Nail's Ghosts I-IV was released 6:00 p.m. PST March 2, 2008 via NIN.com: a four volume collection of 36 untitled instrumental tracks, nearly two hours of music, recorded over a 10-week period last fall. Click HERE to acess the site. Ghosts I-IV was conceived as an experiment: Following the conclusion of 2007's Year Zero album, alternate reality game and touring campaign, Trent Reznor enlisted Atticus Ross and Alan Moulder with help from Alessandro Cortini, Adrian Belew and Brian Viglione to create spontaneous, impulsive soundtracks to daydreams with no agenda or release date, only a self-s 10-week time limit. IN FLAMES: is a melodic death metal band from Gothenburg, Sweden founded in 1990. Along with Dark Tranquillity and At the Gates, they pioneered what is now known as melodic death metal, or "The Gothenburg Sound". In 1995, In Flames finally got tired of using session musicians to record an album or to do live shows, so the trio ( Jesper Strömblad , guitar, glenn Ljungström, guitar, and Johan Larsson, bass, asked Anders Fridén to join the band as the full-time vocalist and Björn Gelotte as the full-time drummer. The band has recorded 8 studio albums & "A Sense Of Purpose", is due out on April 04th. In Flames, have influenced many bands and most notably they were a direct influence on the new wave of metalcore. Many metalcore bands such as"Darkest Hour, As I Lay Dying, and Still Remains", name In Flames as one of their biggest influences. In Flames is also a direct influence on many of the melodic death metal bands that have followed. Melodic death metal bands such as "Insomnium, Omnium Gatherum, Blood Stain Child, and Now Until the Hour", name In Flames as one of their biggest influences as well. The Jester Head is also featured in many of In Flames' merchandise and has been featured in banners as part of In Flames' live set. Yesterday, reports were that the wheels were coming off the Van Halen tour. Further reports that "issues in the band", were the reason behind the crash & burn. Today, the story is this: Ray Waddell of Billboard.com reports: Despite reports to the contrary, sources with VAN HALEN tell Billboard the band's tour is not being canceled, though tonight's (March 3) scheduled show at the American Airlines Center in Dallas has been postponed and rescheduled for March 24. Three other dates have been postponed for undisclosed reasons. The source says the outing picks up on March 11 in Charlottesville, W.V., and a press release regarding the tour's status will be coming within 24 hours. Read the entire article at Billboard.com. Talk about a shitty gig to sign up with. The Canadian Press reports that former KISS guitarist Ace Frehley says he's laid down the law, forbidding booze or drugs among all band and crew members along for his solo tour, which lands in Canada on Monday. The recovering alcoholic and drug user — whose days with the legendary rockers exemplified the sex-drugs-and-rock 'n' roll cliche — says he has to keep such temptations at arm's length. "This time around, I'm real serious about my sobriety, " Frehley says in a recent phone interview from the 21st floor of the Seneca Niagara Casino in Niagara Falls, N.Y. "I've surrounded myself with sober people, so it's really not that tough. It's very comfortable for me at this point, I just hope I can maintain it. I believe I can, but one day at a time, right?" Thanks Canadian Press. TESTAMENT - METAL- LEGENDS ISSUE UPDATE ON "NEW ALBUM."
This baby will be worth getting stoked for. TESTAMENT, Metal legends, are gonna be dropping a blessed new Metal offering "THE FORMATION OF DAMNATION" to us minions on April 29th. Original guitarist, Alex Skolnick has returned to the fold & gives some insight on the new album: Q: How does this album compare with past TESTAMENT albums? Alex: I honestly think this is the best one. Not to put down the past albums, but I think this one is strongest in terms of production, songs and playing. I feel I'm playing much better and so is everyone else. It's got the best qualities of both the more recent albums and the earlier albums. It doesn't feel like a reunion anymore, it now feels like a new, current project. Q: Was it hard to get back into that style of playing after being away from it for so long? Is it difficult to go back and forth from your jazz improv to rock/metal playing? Alex: I've got used to it. To me, jazz is a delicate process which requires a heightened awareness and sensitivity. Metal is about intensity, energy and aggression, kind of the opposite of delicate sensitivity! But, I see no reason not to do both. Sure, I needed to step away and be purely involved in jazz for many years to develop those skills. But the metal playing came back very quickly and feels better than it ever has. It's very much yin and yang. I have elements of both in my personality and see no reason not to do both musically. Q: How involved were you in the writing process? Alex: There are a couple songs in which I'm the main writer/contributor. One is "Dangers Of The Faithless", based on these parts I had in 5/4 time. I wasn't sure it would fit the band, but it sounded good and really different. Chuck [Billy, vocals] came up with a cool vocal part over it, which wasn't easy. The other song is called "F.E.A.R." (False Evidence Appearing Real) which I brought in as a finished song. It examines fear from a psychological perspective and I've heard people say the riffs are very "classic TESTAMENT." But for the most part, I just let Chuck and Eric [Peterson] do their thing with the writing. I'd been gone a long time and they've really developed their own process since then. The last album, "The Gathering", has great writing. I respect that and didn't want to get in the way too much. But I'm really happy with the way it turned out.
Q: What was it like working with Paul Bostaph and how does he compare to the other drummers of TESTAMENT? Alex: We've had some great drummers in the last couple years since I've been back (I can count five!) and it's been great working with them all. But now that Paul's worked in, it really feels like he's the guy. He's such a pleasure to work with. He's got a great sound, solid grooves and great technique. I think the fans will be happy. I know we are." (RANK - April 29th, My metal-kin, don't forget it!) Thanks Blabb. SERJ TANKIAN - NEW VIDEO FOR "MONEY", AVAILABLE HERE!

FAIR TO MIDLAND will open for Tankian on the March dates. Tankian's run with FOO FIGHTERS started on February 18 in Worcester, Massachusetts and ends on March 6 in Los Angeles. Thanks SJ Myspace. SCOTT WEILAND - OUT OF "CAMP DRYOUT".
Wanna take some bets on how long Scotty can go before hitting the horse? According to TMZ.com, VELVET REVOLVER/STONE TEMPLE PILOTS singer Scott Weiland has just finished a stint in rehab. Weiland's attorney told TMZ.com that Weiland has completed 28 days in a treatment facility and is "doing well." Weiland was arrested on November 21, 2007 when he crashed his car while driving on an L.A. highway. He was charged with driving under the influence of drugs with a prior conviction, and with an allegation that he refused a chemical test as required by law. His next court date is Wednesday, March 5. Weiland will reunite with his STONE TEMPLE PILOTS bandmates for the first time at the Rock on the Range festival, to be held May 17-18 at Columbus, Ohio's Columbus Crew Stadium. (well... maybe) Thanks TMZ & Blabb. RECORD CO'S FORCED TO LOWER PRICES - BY WAL-MART PLAN TO REDUCE ALBUM RETAIL COST. I'm not a fan of WAL-MART, but what the hell, they're not the assholes record companies are. Reuters reports: The major music companies have been resistant to lowering their price on CDs, but now they may be dragged to that point: Wal-Mart, the largest retailer of music with an estimated 22 percent market share, has proposed a five-tiered pricing scheme that would allow the discounter to sell albums at even lower prices and require the labels to bear more of the costs. According to sources, the Wal-Mart proposal would allow for a promotional program that could comprise the top 15 to 20 hottest titles, each at $10. The rest of the pricing structure, according to several music executives who spoke with Billboard, would have hits and current titles retailing for $12, top catalog at $9, midline catalog at $7 and budget product at $5. (RANK - "Problem is, at Wal-Mart, the pickings slim to none for Metal fans. So for serious Metal fans... this is a non-issue".) SKINNY PUPPY: is a prominent industrial band, formed in Vancouver, BC, Canada in 1982. Initially envisioned as an experimental side project by cEvin Key (born Kevin Crompton) while he was in the new wave band Images In Vogue, Nivek Ogre (born Kevin Ogilvie) soon joined as vocalist and Skinny Puppy evolved into a full-time project. The band are known as pioneers of industrial rock and electro-industrial,& have been credited for influencing Trent Reznor's NIN. In 96', the band went inactive, however they reformed in 2003 with Mark Walk, they have since released two albums on the German label Synthetic Symphony, and toured extensively. Skinny Puppy's often informal, improvisational approach to musical composition is indicated by use of the term brap, coined by them and defined as a verb meaning "to get together, hook up electronic instruments, get high, and record" The live 05' DVD, "Greater Wrong Of The Right Live" included Information Warfare, a documentary about the U.S.-led wars in Iraq made by Morrison. The anti-Bush administration stance taken by the band at their live shows drew the ire of PABAAH (Patriotic Americans Boycotting Anti-American Hollywood), which attempted a boycott of college radio stations that played Skinny Puppy. The band toured thru most of 07'.
"BAND NAME ORIGINS" IRON BUTTERFLY - The band wanted a name that sounded heavy and beautiful at the same time. Trivia: Their biggest hit was "In A Gadda Da Vida", which was originally called "In The Garden of Eden". The singer was so trashed on LSD one rehearsal that it came out "In A Gadda Da Vida", and the band decided that was a better name for the song. IRON MAIDEN - Nasty Medieval torture device. "WIBUMBA--ALMANAC" - CAUSE SHIT HAPPENS ALL YEAR, EVERY YEAR. "ON THIS DAY" 1999 - Oasis agreed to pay their former drummer Tony McCarroll a one-off sum of £550,000 ($935,000) after he sued the Manchester band for millions in unpaid royalties. McCarroll had been sacked from the band in 1995. 1995 - Bill Berry, R.E.M.'s drummer, underwent surgery to halt bleeding from a brain aneurysm. 1994 - The Smashing Pumpkins were banned from appearing on BBC TV's 'Top Of The Pops', due to the content of their lyrics to 'Disarm'. This single was this weeks highest chart new entry. 1982 - While in Italy, Kurt Cobain of Nirvana lapsed into a coma after taking a combination of Valium and champagne.

5News Slab: Prime news cuts from the metal and rock worldAC/DC - MORE "ALBUM" RUMOURS BEING FORCE-FED TO THE MEDIA.
And now to get your hopes up again this week, about an AC/DC album... ..this: The following report is courtesy of The Sydney Morning Herald: Is AC/DC poised to return to the studio, eight years after the band made its last studio album? An insider from Albert Music, AC/DC's long-time Australian record company, has revealed there is plenty of excitement building about a possible new album from the band. "We're very hopeful, " he said, "but at this stage there's nothing official." Because of their immense fan base all over the globe, any speculation about Accadacca making new music sends fans into a frenzy. But AC/DC's New York management is yet to confirm rumours that the band will soon begin recording another album in the US. "They work on their own time frame, " said the Sydney source. "When they make a record, it's because they want to." The band itself is now strikingly international, with members scattered across the globe. Malcolm and Angus Young divide their time between Britain and Australia (with Angus also spending time in the Netherlands because he has a Dutch wife). Singer Brian Johnson and Cliff Williams are based in the US, while drummer Phil Rudd lives in New Zealand. "They can all get together pretty quickly though, " the source said. Because AC/DC are renowned as one of the most incredible live acts in the world, any possible album would probably be followed by a lengthy international tour. (RANK - "so basically... this is the same shit being fed to fans, as has been the case for over a year now. If Albert Music keeps this up, we'll have another 'Chinese Democracy' going.... Shit, ones enough.) Thanks BW&BK. THE MONGOLOIDS - NEW JERSEY PUNK, HOPELESSLY STUCK IN MOM'S BASEMENT. The thing about press releases, is that you gotta remember they're usually 98% bullshit, created by someone with a lot more creativety than the band itself. More likely than not... .........its done by the band members mothers, since even labels have a hard time lying to this extent.
That would seem to be the case with New Jerseys "THE MONGOLOIDS". Here's the press: "the birth of THE MONGOLOIDS was instigated in 2005 out of a handful of friends from Edison, NJ. An ill intent of combining classic New Jersey straight-edge hardcore and their own brand of amusing flavor caused frenzy among friends and foe alike, quickly establishing THE MONGOLOIDS' trademark. With the buzz in the air, they beat the street and have been touring the country with no signs of slowing down ever since. An engaging live show like no other, a work ethic that is constantly tested, and their musical formula have verified the reality of THE MONGOLOIDS for years to come." Here's the truth:....... Absolute SHIT music. Click HERE for an ear-full of audio ca-ca. When I was 15, in the small town ( 10,000 people) I lived in, there were, at a minimum, 14 to 20 bands with a truck load more talent than these tone-deaf, rythym-challenged morons can muster. I'd be embarrased to put this out in Myspace, much less on Blabbermouth. Go back to the basement & stay there, Mongotards. Thanks Blabb. VAN HALENS "EX" - SLINGING DRUG & LUST TALES ALONG WITH 'JENNY CRAIG.'
--
As if Valerie BertinellI's constant tv barrage-bombing of weight loss proclamations & worries about wolffie weren't enough to make you want to become bulimic... .......she's now hawking a "tell-all' book, "Losing It", about her time with "now-dry" guitar hero Eddie Van Halen. Here are reasons you'll be wanting to avoid this crap: Among other confessions, BertinellI tells of how both her and husband-to-be, Eddie Van Halen, each clutched vials of cocaine as they filled out paperwork necessary to get married. She went on to say that "Those aren’t two people who should be making decisions about the rest of their lives." In recent weeks she has also talked about the couple’s infidelity, confessing that both her and Van Halen were unfaithful during their 20-year marriage. There seems to be some confusion over who cheated first and BertinellI says she does not know for sure. Van Halen, for his part, claims it was BertinellI that cheated first. Then there’s the story of their wedding night where she says that she passed out on the bed while still wearing her gown while Van Halen fell asleep in the bathroom. Presumably due to the consumption of too much alcohol or too many drugs, or perhaps both. Thanks realrocknews.com "MAXIM"WRITER WHO "FUDGED" BLACK CROWES REVIEW - SAYS, "IT WAS A 'PREVIEW' NOT A REVIEW". Nice f#@kin try................. Talk about a lame-ass attempt to save your hide from a ginormous incoming lawsuit. Check this out: David Peisner, the Maxim freelance writer responsible for penning a negative review of the BLACK CROWES' new album without hearing the whole CD, has released a statement to the Los Angeles Times music blog "Soundboard" distancing himself from the controversy. Peisner writes: "I'm a freelance writer. I was assigned to write previews of the BLACK CROWES and NAS albums. I did that. When the issue came out, the previews were laid out as reviews complete with star ratings. I never at any point or to anyone claimed to have heard these albums in their entirety. Whatever decisions Maxim made after I turned in my work were beyond my control." BLACK CROWES manager Pete Angelus had this to say about Peisner's statement, in a phone interview with "Soundboard": "There's no accountability for Dave Peisner, editor James Kaminsky or Maxim magazine. They issued a partial apology to their readership, but no apology directly to the artist whose work they denigrated without having heard more than one song, while attempting to pass it off as an album review. I think Peisner's claim is absurd. He wrote a review of music that he never heard, he disparaged both the band and the material. He said, 'It hasn't left Chris Robinson and the gang much room for growth,' and yet now he's going to attempt to pass off his actions on Maxim? Absurd." "Warpaint", the BLACK CROWES' first album in seven years, is set for release March 4. The blues-rock group, fronted by Chris Robinson, has released only one song from the disc, "Goodbye Daughters of the Revolution". (RANK - "Maxim" isn't the only mag' pulling this shit. And in the world of geriatric, dementia-soaked Rockers, this is the story this week, regarding any Led Zep' world tour: A new report in a U.K. tabloid says that Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant has turned down an offer of $200 Million to embark on a world tour with his old band mates.According to the report, the other two surviving members of the group were in favor of doing more shows. Jimmy Page was said to have enjoyed performing at the O2 show back in December and thought the band had more to offer to their fans. There was no word from Jason Bonham, son of late Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham, but one might assume he would readily sign on to any Led Zeppelin tour he was asked to be a part of if his sentiments regarding his experience at the O2 show are any indication. Once again, Plant is said to be wrapped up in his partnership with country singer Alison Krauss and has said a number of times that he plans to be busy with their tour at least until September. PRONG, is a crossover thrash/thrash metal band and later groove metal/industrial metal formed in 1986. A pioneer of the urban metal scene, Prong is fronted by Tommy Victor. Members of bands such as Korn's Jonathan Davis, Demon Hunter's Ryan Clark, and Nine Inch Nails' Trent Reznor cite Prong as an influence to their musical style. The band was Founded by singer/guitarist Tommy Victor who was a sound man for the famous club CBGB and bassist Mike Kirkland (doorman at CBGB’s). In 1996, Prong's line-up disbanded prior to a tour supporting Type O Negative, as Victor later joined Danzig as Glen's guitar player, Paul Raven went back to Killing Joke, and Ted Parsons left to join Godflesh.
The band re-formed in 2000. The band embarked on the "Slicing Across America" and "Slicing Across Europe" tours supporting" Power of the Damager" in 2007 and early 2008. Joining Tommy Victor in the current live membership of the band is bassist Monte Pittman and drummer Aaron Rossi. Paul Raven died of an apparent heart attack in his sleep on October 20, 2007 at the age of 46. While I am NOT gay, I still think this Norwegian crew has a way of setting the post-punk genre on its collective asses, without breaking a sweat. And they continue to do it, while being overlooked by the industry by the most part.
While having been referred to as the "best fat gay Norwegian punk metal band" may not be perceived as an accolade by most, Turbonegro consider it to be a prestigious honor. Following a successful year in support of their 2007 release, "Retox" (Cooking Vinyl), the apocalyptic quintet has announced three US headlining dates in addition to an appearance at Coachella, which was previously slated as their sole State-side performance for 2008. Born in Cuba and having immigrated to the U.S. at the age of two, Jourgensen was raised in Colorado and Chicago, settling in the Windy City in the late 1970s. As a youth, Al would attend Chicago Blackhawks Hockey games watching from the upper balcony at the old Chicago Stadium. Last fall, as the buzz began to build around the new, young Blackhawks team, Jourgensen decided he wanted to add to the momentum. In his studios rehearsing for their farewell tour, Al picked up on a guitar riff that hadn't made his final album and started building what would become "Keys to the City, " a sports rock anthem that he presented as a gift to the Wirtz family and the Cicago Blackhawks in December of 2007. "The Chicago Blackhawks RULE!" said Al Jourgensen. "I am honored to be a part of the history and legend of one of hockey's Original Six. I hope 'Keys to The City' inspires some awesome fights on the ice." It is already popular among the young Blackhawks players upon which te team is building its future championships. March 5 Debut: Al Jourgensen will travel to Chicago for the March 5 debut of the song. ILL NINO will release its highly anticipated fourth full-length album, titled "Enigma", in Europe on April 7 via Cement Shoes/Soulfood Music. "We have a tremendous amount of artistic freedom now, " explains drummer Dave ChavarrI of the band's new label home. "We're able to express ourselves without boundaries on 'Enigma'." After the music had been laid down, vocalist Cristian Machado set about penning the lyrics to bring the true identity of each piece. "It's really about the deterioration of our planet and the policies that have contributed to the current situation of the world, " Machado explains of the lyrical bent of "Enigma", "It's a story about destruction and consequence. Life and death. Elemental fury and spiritual awakening." And yet for all of its scathing indictments, the album is one of both anger and beauty. "Ultimately I think our message is a positive one. We promote self-awareness and individuality." In addition to a new album, April also sees the band returning to the UK for a five-date tour. Thanks Ill Nino Myspace. "WIBUMBA--METAL & HARD ROCK TRIVIA" - MORE USELESS INFO TO IMPRESS YOUR FRIENDS.
GOB, is a pop punk band from Burnaby, British Columbia formed in 1994. The roots of Gob trace back to Theo Goutzinakis (guitars, vocals) and Tom Thacker (guitars, vocals) meeting at Brookswood Secondary School in Langley, British Columbia, Canada. In 1995 Gob released Too Late... No Friends. The album was a major breakthrough and saw the band earn a large following due to their unique videos, constant touring and their frenetic live performances. How Far Shallow Takes You. The album had a darker, more personal tone and had a heavier sound than Gob had produced in the past. The album sold well in Canada, and the band obtained a strong loyal fan-base. Singles from the album included "Beauville" and "What To Do". Gob covered The Rolling Stones' "Paint It Black", which was featured in the film, Stir of Echoes starring Kevin Bacon and can be heard in the 2004 miniseries ’Salem’s Lot. Their single "I Hear You Calling" was featured on Electronic Arts's NHL 2002 video game. Other songs that have been featured in EA video games are "Give Up The Grudge" (Madden 2004), "Oh! Ellin" (NHL 2004), "I've Been Up These Steps" (NHL 2003), and "Sick With You" (NHL 2003). The band has appeared on several outdoor music festivals, the most well-known being Vans Warped Tour. 2News Slab: Prime news cuts from the metal and rock worldAND THE WEEKS BEST NEWS? - "KILLING JOKE" ORIGINAL LINEUP REUNITES FOR NEW ALBUM & WORLD TOUR.
F#@kin' near fell off my seat & had a "Metal-rapture" my bray!!! After 25 yrs, KILLING JOKES "Original" lineup, Bassist Martin "Youth" Glover & drummer, Paul Ferguson join Jaz & Geordie for a new album & world tour. The tour will see KILLING JOKE take up a two night residency in most venues offering a different set on each evening. On the first night, they will play their first two albums in their entirety, 1980's self-titled album followed by the LP "What's This…For!" Their second performance in each city will treat fans to 1994's "Pandemonium" and the Island Records singles of '79 to '80. Notorious for their use of inflammatory imagery, a backlash against a world they perceived as ever more materialistic, unjust and conservative, KILLING JOKE, railed against the establishment and created a unique sound from their very conception. Ironically, in the current musical climate with its obsession with rehashing Eighties sounds, the '80s saw KILLING JOKE really pushing music forward, incorporating danceable elements with aggressive, grinding guitars and thumping drums. With elements of proto-techno rock, their post apocalyptic vision has inspired bands as diverse and influential as NIRVANA, MINISTRY, NINE INCH NAILS, FOO FIGHTERS, SOUNDGARDEN and GODFLESH. KILLING JOKE have always been and continue to be more than just a band. Godfathers of post-punk, KILLING JOKE return with their eagerly anticipated new album to coincide with their world tour. The release date for the new CD will be announced later.
KILLING JOKE live dates (venues to be confirmed): Any further dates added will be announced. Thanks Killing Joke Myspace. CHILDREN OF BODOM - ANNOUNCE 2, US "OFF DATES", DURING GIGANTOUR.

Perhaps one of the most influential Alt-Metallers in existance today, Helmet, have offered this update: Alternative rock pioneers HELMET have announced the addition of guitarist Dan Beeman to the group's ranks. Beeman replaces the band's most recent axeman, Jimmy Thompson, who reportedly decided to move back to his native Australia at the end of 2007. In a recent interview with Ultimate-Guitar.com, HELMET mainman Page Hamilton stated about Dan, "He is from Minneapolis and his . . . brother Pete is the drummer in BURNING BRIDES who toured with us [before]. "Dan knew all of us in HELMET and loved the music of HELMET and had just moved to Los Angeles a couple of months before we auditioned him. So it just worked out great for him and for us too. So we're really fortunate." Thanks Helmet Myspace. P.O.D (PAYABLE ON DEATH) - TOUR SCHEDULE HERE.

MASTODON was formed in late 1999 when Brann Dailor and Bill Kelliher, former members of both Lethargy and Today is the Day, moved to Atlanta and met Troy Sanders, formerly of Knuckle, Four Hour Flogger, and Social Infestation, and Brent Hinds, formerly of Four Hour Flogger and Fiend Without A Face, at a High on Fire show where they discovered they had a mutual appreciation of psychedelic metal bands The Melvins and Neurosis and '70s hard-rockers Thin Lizzy. Mastodon are now signed to Warner Bros.. Their third studio album, titled Blood Mountain, was released on September 12, 2006. On a hidden track on the album, but only in some leaked versions, there is a spoken-word piece from Joshua M. Homme, the vocalist from Queens of the Stone Age, claiming that he uploaded their new album on the internet. Homme also contributed vocals to the album. On September 9, 2007 the band performed "Colony of Birchmen" live with Josh Homme at the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards. After the televised performance, member Brent Hinds was reported of having a severe head injury. Blabbermouth.net initially reported that it was a result of a brutal assault, but a police report later suggested that an inebriated Hinds initiated a conflict with System of a Down bassist Shavo Odadjian and musician William Hudson. Hinds suffered brain hemorrhaging, a broken nose and two black eyes but made a full recovery. A recent message from Brent to a fan site states that he is back on his feet and to his old ways.

DISTURBED has set "Inside The Fire" as the first single from its upcoming album "Indestructible", which is tentatively due in May. A video for the song will soon be filmed with director Nathan Cox (QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE, MARILYN MANSON, LINKIN PARK). In a recent interview with RollingStone.com, DISTURBED frontman David Draiman stated about "Inside the Fire", "That's a real racy song. It's about me standing over the body of my girlfriend, who just killed herself, and the Devil is standing over me, whispering in my ear to kill myself." Draiman told MTV.com that he's had rough couple of years, which will most likely be reflected in some of the new music. He said, "All kinds of horrible stuff went on. Bad breakups: I've had my garage burn down with all of my vehicles in it: I had a bad motorcycle accident that took off a whole bunch of skin from my forearm... just bad luck. It's been a fierce past couple of years." DISTURBED will be out with SLIPKNOT and other bands on the Rockstar Energy Mayhem tour later this year. Thanks Blabb. 3 INCHES OF BLOOD - UK & CANADIAN TOUR DATES ANNOUNCED.

Huh... ......what a f@#hin' honor. Gathered from evidence obtained through various reports, leaked interrogation logs and the accounts of soldiers and detainees, a list of the top 24 songs strategically used on military prisoners in Iraq was recently made public, according to Mother Jones Magazine's website. Among a list of such musical luminaries as EMINEM, METALLICA and AC/DC (as well as non-luminary Barney The Dinosaur), was DEICIDE, coming in at number one with the song "F**k Your God" from 2004's SCARS OF THE CRUCIFIX. DEICIDE drummer, Steve Asheim, the only thing he could really say was "It's cool. If we're up to military standards of audio abuse, it makes me feel like DECIDE's doing our part for the troops." Of course this moment is not the only history that Asheim has with the armed forces. "My dad was a Marine, as were my uncle and grandfather:" says the DEICIDE skinsman. "I didn't follow in their footsteps since I was so busy with the band thing, but I'm glad I was eventually able to contribute somehow." Here's the top 10 list:
1.DEICIDE - "Fuck Your God" NOTE: the # 24 track was, PRINCE - "Raspberry Beret". Now THAT would get me to say anything to stop the agony & confess to anything. Thanks Antimusic. STONE TEMPLE PILOTS - BOOKING MORE ("MIGHT SHOW UP") DATES. Will Weiland show up for the gig?.......... Or will the Deleo's take turns gargling thru "Vaseline", "Sex Type Thing" & the rest? Just like Velvet Revolver had to do when Weiland bailed on the band last month. Sorta like Rock-Russian Roulette, when Scott's involved. However... ..
The reunited STONE TEMPLE PILOTS have scheduled the following dates: Weiland even told The Pulse of Radio he could envision making another STP album. "We were never a band that felt like we needed to lean too hard onto our muscle, " he said. "We always felt like we had enough beauty and enough finesse in our music, you know, while we were together, that could carry us into a long career. So for us to make a record at an older age doesn't seem like a stretch, you know, 'cause we were never all about brawn." Never about reliability either. Thanks Blabb. ACE FREHELY - ALBUM TITLE REVEALED.
The spaced-ace, is giving up the tag for his upcoming solo disc. Original KISS guitarist Ace Frehley has set "Pain in the Neck" as the title of his new solo album, tentatively due in the spring. "I was all ready and set up to track a record when I was offered the KISS reunion, " Frehley told The Akron Beacon Journal. "I got back with KISS and that kind of derailed me from 1996 to 2001 and it took me a while to get my wits back." Frehley said he is still putting the finishing touches on "Pain in the Neck", including some scheduled six-string contributions from VELVET REVOLVER/ex-GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Slash. Thanks AF Myspace. OZZY - CONFIRMED "SUGAR-JUNKIE". It's a slow day here at the Rock-Research center............. ..........So ignore the following: ThisIsNorthScotland.co.uk reports that Ozzy Osbourne apparently misses Sugar Puffs so much when he's away from the UK, he has ordered a consignment to be sent to his Los Angeles home. The sweet-toothed rocker, 59, apparently loves the cereal so much he put in a request to the British manufacturers Honey Monster Foods for a bumper pack to be sent to the States, reports The Sun. A source was quoted as saying: "One of the team at Honey Monster Foods received an email with a request from Ozzy Osbourne's people in L.A. asking for them to ship over some boxes of Sugar Puffs. They said it was his favorite breakfast cereal and he was wound up because he couldn't find any over there."
